Best HR monitor under $100?

I'm finally getting around to purchasing a HR monitor. I've been swimming since last summer and pretty much know how many calories I burn the 4 to 5 days a week I swim and have a good estimate of my HR while swimming. What I want is a monitor so I can see my HR during my Circuit Training. My trainer has been adding in more and more HIIT during the hour of circuit I do five days a week and we want to watch my HR so I can get it up there again in the 125 - 135 range (I'm 63) between sets of strength and resistance work.
I started looking at Amazon but I'm not sure which one would be best. I think I'd rather wear a watch than a box on my arm, some of them look annoyingly large. Are the chest straps uncomfortable? I didn't really think I needed one but I guess it could come in handy for my next stage of "training", not that I'm actually training for anything....
Any suggestions would be appreciated and I really would like it to be under $100 if possible, I'm already spending enough on this fitness stuff.

I'm new to the HRM thing as well, and I compared the same 2 that were suggested. They seemed basically the same to me? Except the Polar was cheaper by $40. I think I'm going to go with the Polar (even though I also have the worry of it being uncomfortable).
Also, I see this thread 3+ times a day. Why is there not a review sticky for the top 3 or 4 HRMs? Seriously. lol
EDIT: I was looking at the Polar FT4 as being that much cheaper. Sorry about that. >_<0 -
If you're still looking for feedback, I love my Zephyr HxM... cost me about $60 on Amazon0

Do you want to be able to use your HRM with a fitness app?0

ft4 by polar is a great HRM.
i can not say anything bad about it.
EASY to set up, EASY to use.
great screen options, and no problems so far since using it.
i just bought mine on sale at best buy a few weeks ago.
best purchase I've ever made.
watching my calories burn has doubled my work outs since i can see the numbers and i can track my progress.0 -
