Calculation confusion

Hi, I just started out and was wondering how do you calculate some of the meals you have? For example now my girlfriend is making noodles with vegetables and pork for dinner. How do you log it in your food diary? I mean I guess you weigh the ingredients before cooking them. And I guess you weigh your portion of the dinner that you're going to eat but then what? How do you calculate how much of each ingredient you're having when it's all mixed up on the pan?

I use the recipe builder for stuff like that.

I often cook for 3 people and if it is a stir fry or pizza etc I put the individual weights of the ingrediants in the recipe builder, # of servings and that gives me calories per serving.

IE Pizza has 8 servings each one is 381 calories. easy peasy.

It can be a bit harder with a stir fry but I typically take the entire dish and weigh it afterwards to see how many grams it is and divide that by the number of servings we should get out of it...

The recipe builder calculates the calories & nutrition per portion: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/recipe/box

    Enter each ingredient, then either:
    1. Enter the total number of servings, then log one or more servings at a time, or
    2. Enter the total weight, then weigh each serving as you go.

Oh great, thanks! I hadn't noticed the recipe builder. Seems to make things so much easier.
