Is everyone out there eating their buned calories and making progress?

  • To be honest, I am a little nervous about eating them. My thinking is I worked hard as hell to burn them, why eat them back? I am sure those well-versed in physiological dynamics will tell me to eat them because my metabolism is increasing but.....

So, sometimes I might go into them a little but I never eat them all.

  • Ive only been on here 2 weeks, the first week I ate some of my burned calories but left most of them as just like you HYeliab I though whats the point in working so hard to burn them if im going to eat them all back?? I lost 7lbs, but then in week two I was advised to eat them so I tried that and lost no weight! Obviously this isnt conclusive :-) but Im not going to eat them again now! x
  • I try not to but sometimes I do.

I have always eaten them and been losing steadily.
10 kg (22 lbs) in about 3.5 months.

This question seems to come up five times a day in some form..
Please read this post to get the facts straight about the exercise calories.

7lbs a week is only possible for the first one or two weeks when you lose excess water as your body adjusts to the change. 'not losing' the next week doesn't really mean anything as you are still adjusting.

Here is another post you should read.

Exercise is for maintaining and improving your physical health and, when added to a weight loss aimed diet, it also helps to minimize the inevitable associated muscle loss (given that you eat your exercise Cals, otherwise it'll only backfire).

You need to eat your exercise calories so that you can exercise. There is a lot of science out there behind this so don't stumble in to the trap of thinking that you can leave them off!

I always eat at least 1200 and then I try to just have less than 200 left over of exercise calories. I'm afraid that I might eat too little, because that's dangerous. So if I burned 300 calories by working out, that gives me 1500 for the day, so I'll eat about 1300 to 1350. Seems to be working for me!
