New me

I know people always say that after you lose weight you feel like a new person. I always thought this was just physically true. Yeah if I get in shape I am sure that I will be more confident, but I doubt I will be a new person.
I was wrong.
This week, after three years of hard work I finally reached a goal I set for myself. And I have to be honest, I feel like such a new person. It feels so amazing walking past people without trying to hide yourself. Shoulder and chin up and know that I have achieved something most people wouldn't understand. Now I do things that I still ask myself "Can I really do that?" because I have been so used to being a bigger guy.
As for the new person I am I have become so much more energetic towards people. People actually LAUGH at my jokes now. My jokes never changed... They have always been lame. The way I think has been much more narrow and straight forward. I introduce myself to people without fearing of being judged.
READ IF YOU JUST STARTED LOSING WEIGHT OR WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT:
- The truth is it is really really hard. The beginning is so tough, which is why most people quit. But don't you dare quit. You know its hard, you know what you are putting yourself into. There will be days where you will over-eat and feel so awful about yourself and then lose track of your weight. You will feel like giving up so many times and start to hate yourself... That is the hardest part of losing weight; to stand up for yourself.
- Diet and exercise are important. COUNT YOUR CALORIES. To lose weight you need to have burn more calories than gain calories at the end of the day. STOP buying things that say they will help for weight loss. Learn to eat everyday things in moderation. I eat fries all the time, but I know when enough is enough. Some things might be healthy like nuts or guacamole, so you start eating a lot of it. Just because it is healthy doesn't mean you can eat as much of it as you can. The same goes for salad. Salad is good for you, but if you go above your calorie intake then you might as well eat a double cheese burger wrapped in bacon. EXERCISE is the key. If you are planning on losing weight without exercising then you need to understand that exercising is important not just because it burns calories, but because it helps the way you look. There is probably 2 reasons why you want to lose weight, for your looks or to be healthier (or both). Exercise is a key ingredient for looking good and being healthy.
Start today. You have NO excuses not to. Don't let nobody tell you to take a bite of their cheesecake, don't let anyone demotivate you. Just don't fall off the wagon. Do it.
Remember, you need to sacrifice who you are today for who you want to be in the future.
