Frustrated

These last few weeks I've found myself more and more upset with working out. I feel like I'm at the gym and only have trying. I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing and how to push myself anymore. Maybe I'm just in a workout lull. How does everyone get back in the spirit?

  • Try a new routine, get my boyfriend to come, (I don't like working out with friends because I'm comparing the whole time and I hate sweating )... Try a workout tape from home. Jillian Michaels is good. Or if you have the money get a personal trainer. There are usually trial or first time sign up deals. Now I need to take my own advice!

Do you give yourself breaks? I mean, a week or several days of doing something completely different - not laying around of course. I just finished P90X, and one of the concepts there (and with other routines), is to go hard for a few weeks then take a week where you're still doing some sort of cardio, but not intense, muscle straining work. During my week off I try to find things that are fun for me - basketball, running, hiking, etc. just to burn a few calories. By the end of that week you'll probably feel an increased desire to get back to the gym anyway. That's what happens to me.
