Filling Dinner ideas

The hardest thing is when you get all these groceries but you do not know what to cook ..

Does anyone have low calorie meals they make for dinner but that is filling..
I was thinking about making sushi but im sure that would be a calorie killer anddd not to mention not filling.

I make a small portion of meat about 3-6 oz. (chicken, beef, fish or pork) and a steamer bag of vegetables. The bag is 4 servings but I can usually eat 1/2 or 2 servings. I also use vegetables to bulk up the volume when cooking chili or stew or soup. I put so many vegetables in my morning egg my husband thinks I am eating 2 eggs.

Fish is actually low calorie and high in protein, depending on the kind and how you prepare it. Baked/ roasted chicken and vegetables are also good.

I like the "You Can Trust a Skinny Cook" cookbook, or the Skinny Taste website for recipes!

Every week I prep a bunch of fruit and veggies, and I usually just eat that for dinner with some sort of meat. Tonight, I'm baking a chicken breast in barbeque sauce, roasting some baby carrots in a tiny bit of olive oil and thyme, and I will eat up the last of my cantaloupe.

Tomorrow I think I will cook a piece of tilapia in lemon pepper seasoning, roast some sliced zucchini, and maybe make some mashed potatoes.

Calorie for calorie, baked white fish or sauteed shrimp, a small sweet potato and a heaping plate of steamed mixed vegetables with a good seasoning salt and a 1/2 Tbsp. of butter is the most satisfying meal I can think of. This cod and quinoa pilaf is also a great recipe and under 500 calories per serving.

I have done fish with oatmeal or grits on side and spinach salad, that seems to fill me up. Also, if you get frozen cooked squash....that is quite filling and whole thing is only 120-160 calories. Add some protein..your good to go.

I'm currently all about bean and tofu burritos from my caffe at work. Low fat beans, tofu simmered in tomatillo salsa, a dab of guacamole, pico de gallo (tomato salsa), lettuce. Roll it up, top with a dab of sour cream and more tomatillo. Super filling and tasty!
