What are some rewards you have set for yourself?

I get rewards for every 10lbs I knock-off my weight. Next reward would be Butao broth with squid ink
Sorry.. that looks like something I drained from the kitchen sink trap.... no bueno.0 -
This time I have no mini goals or rewards, but when I get to my goal weight and I am happy with how I look, I plan to have some boudoir style photos made of myself. I always wanted to do that... And is a very good visual reminder of I can look!0

I've deliberately steered clear of intermediate treats and am avoiding clothes and food rewards. I'm currently planning for a relaxing two weeks away somewhere warm if I can stay on track until the summer.0

There is no end-goal. And the journey is the reward. When you get there, you'll find that that is the reward.
Jesus Christ.
Please go.
Ouch, harsh lol.
I usually buy whatever I currently want, get a new shirt/workout leggings, or eat pizza.
Why not still eat pizza now... And count that within the calories? O.o
I do but when I'm rewarding myself I do so without guilt lol. I work at a pizza restaurant so I eat pizza a little more often than I'd like to.0 -
When I hit my goal weight Dec 12 I went crazy shopping at Victoria secret online ... New bikinis etc all beautiful,
Hey I might just have another shop :blushing:0 -

Sorry bro. Motivating until the end. Public forum and all. Sorry you can't understand intrinsic value.
Just remember that our journey to fitness isn't a "one size fits all" sort of deal What motivates me might now motivate you, and vise versa.
I get your point, though. The "wow, I did it" is worth much more than any sort of material reward, but it's not necessarily a ''bad'' thing to have material rewards, too. The way I see it is, if someone has found a safe way to get them into a healthier lifestyle - then they did it right.
I'm not really following the whole "no end-goal" thing Optimal health is my end goal, and after I reach it - then my goal will change from obtaining to maintaining, you know? It's almost like a check point, I guess.
If you mean that changing your lifestyle is a permanent ordeal, then I 100% agree with you! I have so many friends who will set a goal to lose 10 pounds, lose it, then go right back to being couch potatoes and eating junk. While it is a lifetime commitment, it won't always feel this tedious. I kind of envision it, for myself, as an uphill battle until I reach my goal - then it turns into flat land with a few hills now and then. It's definitely not an uphill/downhill thing, but I don't see maintenance as being as difficult as what I'm going through right now. So, my "end-goal" would be the very top of the hill. Does that make sense?
Anyway - it's super awesome that you put forth the effort to motivate others! There are many members on MFP (including myself, oops) who spend a great part of their time on this site logging things, chatting with friends, then going on about our lives. You, kind sir, take the time to hit the forums and make others feel like this is all worth it. People like you are awesome and I value you guys to no end. Thanks0 -
So many things I want once I get to goal but short term - it's a pair of shoes I am going to reward myself with. Those delicious red Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane shoes that Margot's character wore in the movie 'Wolf of Wall Street' will be mine!

Just couldn't muster up the courage to say it.
I'll reward myself by buying new pants! :happy:0 -
As I first started out, I was doing fitness related rewards such as athletic pants, glow-in-the-dark basketball, a nice jump rope, etc. But for me that was a bit silly because 99% of my exercise is walking, hiking, or biking with my husband and we have all of the necessary items for that.
When I reached onederland, a huge milestone for me, I treated myself to all new makeup and a Lucite countertop organizer to store it in. That kinda backfired because I wound up disliking most of the slightly pricey makeup and prefer the cheaper brands I was using before LOL. But it was still a fun reward that reminds me every day of my accomplishment :-)
At this point, I am starting to see an increase in how quickly I "need" new clothing...for example, going from size 18 to 16 took several months but I've only been in 14 for a little while and it looks like I need to start checking out 12-13s. So for now I think my 'reward' will be clothes...as in, not feeling too guilty about the frequency with which I replace items, shopping, etc.
I've also been wanting to go on roller coasters for ages but for years I was afraid about not fitting. Now that I know I'll fit, I planned to treat my husband and I to a nearby amusement park...but it turned out that we both got free admission for the whole season :-) So we'll do that very soon!0 -
goal = reward = vanquish chronic pain = ongoing mode of being =/= 'end result'
vanquishing the pain is not just my 'goal'. it's not just the only 'reward' i need. it's my only focus.
eta: better tell me to get out too.0 -

No need to be so pugnacious, friend
I'm not quite understanding your post up there. A goal and a reward are not the same thing, therefore goal =/= reward.
A goal is a desired result and is the object of our efforts. We work hard to meet our goals.
A reward is something (materialistic or not) obtained to in recognition of our efforts.
It's totally possible to have an ''end goal'' in terms of weight loss, then modify your goals accommodating your newly obtained status. In other words, you can have your "end goal" be to weight ____ lbs, reach that goal, and then set a new goal to maintain that. Even the maintenance part can be broken into smaller goals!
While the "lifelong journey with no intermissions" mindset works for you - it might not work for others. No need to make somebody else feel bad about setting goals/rewards. Long as it works and it's healthy, let them do it0 -
When I reach my goal, I'm gonna wait for a cool c-note from my wife so I can get my PS4. I'll also enjoy eating quite a bit more at my maintenance weight. And I wanna get rid of all my fatty pants and get skinnier pants. That's it.
I can't wait until it's time to get rid of my fat person clothes! It'll also feel freaking fabulous to not die of embarrassment anymore when I can't find a specific shirt/dress in ''my size'' because they don't exist!0 -
I don't really reward myself. I get happy when I reach a certain point. That's good enough for me.
However, I'm thinking about getting a tattoo. So I may hold off on that until I'm closer to/at my goal weight. (That's kind of a reward, yeah?)0 -
A full steampunk outfit and a right proper booze up complete with slap up meal at the local casino
Or make one of my tattoos into a full sleeve0 -

Yeah it is on the adventurous/weird side. Usually keep rewards that way. Try something new all the time to push me out of my comfort zone and to the next 10 pounds. Although at this point a wardrobe shopping spree seems a nice idea for the next 10.0 -

Just like to add that my number one motivation to lose weight and then to maintain at just above underweight was totally driven by the ongoing pain I suffer from my bust up knee. The difference in pain levels through the joint from my high of 78kg to my current 56kg is very noticeable. However, I think I more than deserve a more materialistic reward to supplement the pain reduction (hence the holiday, and quite possibly a new SmartTV and more Sonos audio kit). That way I get a positive treat as well, not just the reward of the removal of something negative in my life.0 -
a whole new wardrobe oh and probably a new car (need one any ways)0
-
I haven't even though that far head yet. Probably a massage, a pedicure, an adventure trip, ultimate goal would be the tattoo I want.0
-
It is fun to set goals and recognize and celebrate reaching them in any way that means something to us.
But we all deserve these nice things, nice hair cuts and pretty clothes, tattoos, and fun adventures even if we never lose a pound.0 -

The satisfaction of saying I did it! Oh, and I needed new clothes0

I have a vacation to the Florida Keys planned for May and that is my reward for getting to ONEderland. Haven't quite made it yet, but I'm so close I can taste the saltwater!0
-
My ultimate goal is to be lean and muscular. The reward I have set for myself when I get there is the joy of being lean and muscular.0

I took a 10day full diet break when I hit my last milestone. Im planning to do it again (but only 7 days this time) when I hit the next 10lb marker.
Its not a license to eat whatever I want- I still have to stay below maintenance but it does work out to about an extra 400-600 calories per day. I ate all the cake, cookies, chips and other treats that wanted, which I normally try to restrict or that I just eat very small portions of. I think one day I had 4 choc cupcakes for dinner with a piece of protein. At the time it was a much needed mental health break. My intake averaged my TDEE over those days and the scale reflected that. At that point I was 6mo on MFP and it recharged me for the next period of weight loss.0 -
I already hit my goal. Buy new clothes.0
