Not feeling hungry? Help?

Hello, I am a past emotional over eater who after replacing random junk food binges with fresh juiced veggies has kicked her cravings. However, here's the issue. When I added juice to my diet, I was consuming about 1,500 - 2,000 worth of juice and foods (most coming from my veggie juice) But now I am feeling less and less hungry. I can go all day with basically nothing Yesterdays meal plan: 1 c. popcorn (from the night before. ew) @ 2:30 pm then 10 pc. vegetarian sushi @ 6 pm at 10 pm I forced myself to eat a Luna bar (nutritional bar for women) because I felt like I needed something else to run on.

Usually I would never be able to live off such few calories (less then 800) but I was content with such little food. I was working so I didn't have access to fruits and veggies unfortunetly.

Anyways, I was told that if your body needs to eat, you'll feel hungry. So if that's the case, my body doesn't need to eat? Is it burning off my stored fat? Because that seems a little too good to be true. I haven't seen much of a weight change for about a week. I have lost weight and inches off my body but it's as if I plateaued or something.

I'm very confused, I have never gone through such a journey before.

Thoughts?

Hunger is not an indication of what the body needs.

If you eat too little food your body does release chemicals and hormones to stop those hunger signals...not sure of the exact science behind it...

You will suffer from eating too little...you will get weak, lethargic, dizzy, nails will be brittle, hair will fall out etc...and if you want to exercise forget that...

If you are truly not hungry, than you have no reason to eat. You shouldn't be worried, some of us would kill to not be hungry all of the time! Keep up the good work! :)

you can't be serious...you are encouraging vlcd...get a grip, educate yourself on vlcd and teh ToS of this forum.

I am speaking from experience...eating too little food for even one day caused me extreme issues for the next couple of days...

I wasn't hungry and had eaten 985 calories...ate to get to 1195 and paid for 3 days by being weak, lethargic, dizzy and my exercise wasa sub par..

While this sounds good, it is not true. Restricting calories too low can cause the hormones that regulate hunger to get really screwed up. People speak of "intuitive eating" and if that was something we could do well - we would not be overweight. It stands to reason that you still might not be able to interpret your hunger signals while in a deficit.

The best thing to do is set a reasonable calorie deficit and stick to it. There are ways to get your calories in & meet your macros without being stuffed. Eat more calorie dense foods (nuts, nut butters, reg. fat dairy, etc.). It's about getting the correct nutrition. It took me a year and a half to lose 65 pounds. If you're in this to lose all the weight - that's going to take some time. You need to make sure you come out on the other side as healthy as possible.

    Hi,

The body is not that great a following hunger cues (intuitive eating can work, but sometimes it does require a manual overrides).

As far as your meal plan goes, you are definitely not eating enough. I would suggest first an foremost work out your protein target (normally 0.7 -1g of protein per lb of lean mass) and make sure you are hitting that. Then either opt for a high fat / low carb eating strategy or vice versa.

Log your food and see just exactly how much you are eating - too large a deficit MAY be slowing your progress.

If eating does not interest you at the moment, try and aim for high calorie meals or snacks, to reach your target in smaller (or less frequent meals).

Just make sure your getting your proteins and all or as many of your macro nutrients as possible.

Remember log your food, so you know where you are calorie target wise.

    Good luck.
