New to MFP and up to change my life!

Hello all!
I have finally made my mind about posting here as I have recently started logging every day in order to change my lifestyle and eating routines.
A bit more about me: I'm 24 (25 in May) and used to be very active before. I moved to England 2.5 years ago when I finished Uni and since then, I have been neglecting myself due to being really busy at work (with 12-15 working hours days sometimes...).
A few weeks ago and after feeling incredibly exhausted after climbing stairs I realised it all had to change. I wanted to radically change my lifestyle so I started drinking about 2-2.5 ltrs overnight (I did not drink any water AT ALL before, maybe 1 cup being generous...). I also started doing 5-6 healthy meals per day instead of 2/3 and stopped eating any sort of crisps, chocolates, fast foods, etc. At the same time, I started doing Insanity. I combine it with Hip Hop Abs sometimes (5 days Insanity + 2 days Hip Hop Abs).
I am now in week 3 of Insanity and can see the results already volume/shape-wise and I have increased my calories' intake after reading some posts here because I was doing around 1,200-1,300. I'm going to try to go up to 1,550 kcal from today (+ extra kcal from Insanity which I am not having back at the moment).
I am very very determined to change my life and have found myself really strong when it comes to snacks/unhealthy food (in my office, there are always chocolates and crisps around and yet I have not even felt tempted to have some).
Sorry for the long message. I hope to find some people here who would point me in the right direction and who would find the motivation with me to keep on going.
Maria

And I'm still trying to learn about carbs/proteins/fat and find the balance as I usually end up getting to many carbs...
Hope to find some new buddies, advise and encouragement over here0 -
Hi there!
First of all, congrats on making the big move. It takes a lot of willpower to stop the "i'll start tomorrow" cycle. Been there. lol
im 24 as well, and have a full time job. I'm around unhealthy food all day long at home and at work. So i definitely understand you.
I pack a lot of healthy snacks, and some of the 100 calorie snacks so that i wont run into boredom of snacks or hunger. That really works for me. That way by lunch time i wont be starving.
I eat 3 meals a day, sometimes only 2, sometimes 5 or 6. i try to mix stuff up.
I am on foot all day long, walking back and forth in my store (i work at a cellphone store). i know its not the same as exercise, but i cant really fit it into my schedule all the time. So far, i've been doing pretty good i think. It just takes a lot of will power. I like visualizing what ill look and feel like 3,5,7 months from now, and that works great. Youre doing a great job! Keep up the great work and good luck!

Hi Johannaqv89!
Thanks a lot for your comment and congratulations on your progress! I can see you are definitely on your way
Feeling the same about work and being surrounded by treats everywhere! I do have a full-time job as well and also work as a freelance on a self-employed basis (and, on Wednesdays, I study sign language for 3 hours, so my day is 15 hours long pretty much leaving home at 7am and arriving by 10pm!!) so my time for exercising or anything "was" pretty much nonexistent. But I kept on feeling dead tired all the time, dreading the day and being knackered even if I had slept well, for example.
When I decided to "change", I wanted to try to fit some exercise somewhere to see if that made any difference and to get into a new routine and, I don´t know if it´s suggestion but since I´m doing Insanity/Hip Hop abs, I feel much more active and awake!! I am so determined now that even when I get home at 10pm on Wednesdays, I have been doing my workout before a super late dinner!! (even if it´s just a 30-minute one).
But then my job is in an office so I´m in front of the computer all the time and when doing some freelance work, it´ll be in my office at home and with the computer as well so... sedentary x 1000! Doing some exercise also "unsticks" me from the computer and for a bit, I don´t think about work! I have also said bye to escalators and lifts, stairs all the way! (well, I do live in a 21st floor so that´s the only moment of the day when I do take the lift at least for part of the way!).
I just hope I´m on the right track and I can keep it up for a long time. Feeling quite proud of myself for being in my third week of my new routine!
Thanks for your encouragement and words, keep in touch0 -
