I started running 2 months ago. First I did an e-course called "3 Weeks to a 30 min Running Habit." This course uses the run/walk method to get you running for a total of 30 min, with some walking intervals. It went really well, I finished the course, and saw major improvements.
After that, I started an e-course called "Run your first 5k" which is an 8 week course also using the run/walk method. It basically starts where the first e-course left off. Things were going great with this course as well. About 2 weeks ago, I ran for 30 min with no walking. I could see even more improvement on my running, and I was feeling really great. Then, about 1.5 weeks ago, I went out for my run and felt super fatigued. I felt like I was in one of those dreams where I'm trying to run, but I can't make my legs move any faster. It was really rough, and I felt like crying out of frustration nearly the whole run. When I went out for my next run, I couldn't even complete it because my legs felt too tired. This has been happening every time I have tried to run since that day. Today I tried to run, and my legs were so tired I ended up tripping! I'm just wondering if anyone knows what's going on, or has experienced this. I figured I would just continue to improve if I kept up with the training course. Not expecting to hit a wall like this.
This is what I have tried since the first day of feeling fatigued:
Upped my protein in-take, thinking that maybe I'm not getting enough protein to repair my muscles. No improvement yet.
I warm up, stretch, run, cool down, and stretch every time I train.
I don't train two days in a row. I either take a break from all exercise, do cross training, or do a very light run.
I hydrate before and after.
I am following the fat/carb/protein ratio that MFP gives in it's food diary, though I have upped the protein now.
Any info or advice would be great. I'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with my training, and I am running a 5k in November.
