Hey everyone! not been on here in a LONG time and thought it was about time i came back!
I have been eating very similar to what's in my latest diary entry and wondered if i keep going this way (i also have chicken, fish, always have some fruit at lunch, drink lots of water..have breakfast SOMETIMES just whatever cereal we have etc) would i be able to reach my goal by June? (13st is my goal and im currently 14.2) I basically eat relatively normal and have a treat meal like once a week, is this ok?
I am quite active (i will be updating my diary as i go through the week) i do boxing 2 - 3 times a week along with a Martial arts which is quite intense once a week, also go jogging/swimming once a week. I have found my weightloss to be VERY slow but im putting that down to my "keep falling off the wagon".
So guess im just looking for a bit of re-assurance and want others opinions on whether im going about this the right way! thanks for taking the time to read my post, hope your all well!

Holy low protein, Batman!
17 pounds in 2-3 months is doable. But, depending on your other goals, you may not be doing yourself a lot of favors by eating as little as you are. I'm assuming you have fitness and body composition goals as well as weight loss goals?
First, get some protein in your diet!
And second, be sure you're logging your exercise here and eating back at least a portion of the extra calories you earn. 1500 is low for most people, very low for guys, and very very low for active guys.0 -
I normally have quote alot of fish (tuna, cod etc) and chicken or some form of meat atleast 5 - 6 times a week AT LEAST. By body composition do you mean BMI? ive gone from 35ish to 31.00bmi which i cant understand as if i lost another stone and 1/2 id look perfect i think (which would give me a BMI of probably around 28 i think, which is still obese apparently!)
You eat back calories you burn? does that not defeat the object of working them off in the first place? I am worried about losing muscle instead of fat also! maybe i should eat a little bit more then! if you think it will help my weightloss?
Cheers!0 -
1500 is too low. Your BMR is about 1900, which I'd consider to be the absolute lower limit. With that amount of exercise, my guess is that your TDEE is in the 3100 calorie range. With that kind of TDEE, you could pack away 2100 calories a day and still be looking at two pounds a week.
And what diannethegeek said about your protein.0 -
Yeah i just did a test on my BMR and its 1829 Calories (this is a completely new thing for me to even look at!) So you both really think im not eating enough? Man i feel so bad if i have an extra meal (like low fat super noodles with tuna) maybe im so worried about over eating im not eating enough....Thanks for the advice everyone! ill try upping what i eat slightly if i can find something sortof healthy to do so! ^_^0

The standard BMI calculations are worthless if you have a lot of muscle. Back in the days when I was doing a lot of triathlons, my BMI was 26.5, and I can guarantee I wasn't even close to overweight.0 -

Yeah that's something that's always confused me! im very much a "short and stocky" kinda guy! ive got a bit of stomache fat but im not gigantic. According to the BMI's way of weighing i should be 10stone....so 4.2st light than i am! haha knew that couldn't be right.0 -

Log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly—including treats. Eat "healthy" 80% of the time. Fit treats into your calorie goal.

You fall off the wagon because your goal is too low... Go to http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and use an appropriate deficit (20% or 15%) and it will be much easier to stick to it.0
-
MINIMUM you need 1700kcals I found scooby calculator over calculated for me though its a good guide.
Your goal is doable though will be quite hard work so you might want to push your goal further away so you don't get disheartened if you are someone likely to fall off the wagon.0 -
I'm with you girl. I'm lucky if I lose a whole lb a week.
I do keep losing weight and it's all that matters. The issue is that we both aren't losing very much. You see a huge difference if you have a lot to lose.
Also, I am putting on muscle, so sometimes the scale doesn't change but my body fat % does.0 -
Thank you for all the replies! given me some good things to consider and look into!
I think i may be falling off the wagon so to speak because im cutting my food down to much like suggested! Since this time last year ive gone from 15.6 to 14.2 (not being strict really) so maybe more food is what i need and the weight will come off slowly. Id be happy with 1 - 2lbs a week instead of 4lbs this week, nothing for 3 weeks then 3 lbs again etc etc lol.
Would this explain why sometimes ill have what i consider to be a "bad week" and end up having a few bad meals through the week and magically lose 3 lbs still at times?
Yeah Holly, ive had this aswell! i work my *kitten* off + eat healthy all week and i lose nothing yet i can physically see a slight difference so thats what i put it down to sometimes. We will get there!0 -
