Only 11 pounds to goal?!

Hi all! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my question. I have only 11 more pounds to get to my goal weight of 125, I'm 5'2". I'm so close...I'm getting so excited....But at the same time, I see that I still have a decent gut. :( Will these 11 pounds really make that much of a difference in my size? I workout 5-6 days a week...mostly circut training, but I mix it up a lot cause I get bored sticking with the same things. I would love to hear from people who have hit their goal weight or in the same kind of place as me! Thank you!!

    Have you been doing weight training? I haven't hit my goal weight, but weight training will surely tighten you up.

    I always include some type of strength training with my workouts.

    I am 2 lbs from goal and feel hat i still have a "gut.'

    Some of this comes from having a child and being overweight, I dont think it will ever get "flat"

    What I have noticed is that doing weighted cruches and running has helped tremendously in tightening this area.

    Work with what you have or lower your goal.
    Congrats to you!!! I don't think I'll ever achieve that nice flat tummy either. I've had 2 kids myself. I like to run in the morning....but the sides of the roads and sidewalks are ice coated during that time. Soon I will be hitting the pavement!

    I have about 12 pounds left to my original goal. I will probably end up adjusting the goal for another 10 pounds after I reach my original goal since I will still be around 10 pounds over my high weight range. Based on my recent results, it looks like I am in a plateau and it may take a bit. Sigh. But I can certainly understand how it feels to get close and still feel like you want to lose more. I think in the end, its a good idea to reach your original goal first before you decide whether you want to lose more. You will know when you get there how you feel. I also think that a pound lost towards the end of your journey makes a lot more difference than they same pound in the beginning. 11 pounds may make a much bigger difference than you think.

    Since this is not my first rodeo, I am also beginning to worry about what to do with maintenance. I have been successful at getting the weight off, but never all that good at keeping it off. That's a mind set change that I am really nervous about transitioning to.

    Unfortunately you may not want to hear this but time is going to make the most difference. Especially if you've lost a decent amount of weight. It takes time for your skin to adjust to weight loss which can give the appearance of a "gut". If you are doing weight training in addition to cardio, you're on the right track. You can try mineral scrubs and coco butter, that has helped me.

    I am 4lbs from goal...I lift weights (heavy weights) and it's going away...

    I am not sure if it's the heavy weights or the fact that most of the "weight" I have lost has been fat because I lift heavy weights and eat lots of protien.

    Is my belly where I want it...not yet...my goal is 20-22% BF...which means I have to weigh between 150-153...which I should hit while upping my calories to maintenance and lifting.

    There are lots of threads in the success forum that show what heavy lfiting can do for our overall body composition.

    I'm about the same height/age as you and I'm having the same problem. At 10 lbs to go I was still very unhappy with my stomach.

    I have 5 more lbs to go, but I will say, the first of my 5 made a huge difference in how I look along with upping my strength training significantly.

    I'm not 100% there yet, but I would say keep going with the calorie deficit or whatever you are doing to lose weight, and keep strength training/weight training.

    the last 10 is a long road. I started right after Christmas and I'm only 5 down after 3 months. Be patient and consistent!

    Nice job! I am so far from my goal, but I know 10 lbs makes a difference on me, so I know it will make a difference on you. I do weight training and yoga, and Yoga with Adriene is awesome.     I'm in a similar boat. I have 6 lbs to go to get to my goal weight of 135 lbs at 5'1". Once I got within 10 lbs my loss slowed to a snail's pace, I plateaued for a bit there. I think I've only lost 5 lbs in the past year. However, my body composition has continuously changed quite a bit (even during my plateau) since I've shifted my focus more to strength training (both more of it and more challenging). I don't really care so much about weight anymore so much as fat loss and strength/endurance gain. Small, non-weight related goals are good for keeping your motivation.

    Those last 11 pounds will absolutely make a difference, or at least they did for me! Now granted it took a lot longer to lose those last 10 pounds (about 5 months) but that was really where I started to see a difference in my body composition.

    I agree with Sargirl. Keep strength training lifting heavy weights and add cardio a few days a week. It will happen. It's amazing what happens with just one pound weight loss when you strength train. I have a pic included in my profile where I show a one pound loss and how my body changed and became more defined. Focus on the day I and day out and stay off the scales. Measure yourself instead as that will be the biggest encouragement.

    How clean you eat is really important in stomach bulge, I've noticed. Also, whoever said weight training, yes yes YES.
