hypothetically speaking, let's say that one of your friends was considering deactivating and you were trying to convince them that the pros outweigh the cons around here. what would you list as pros and cons for this site (and the social aspect of it) in your experience? i'll start it off...
pros: cauliflower recipes.
cons: cauliflower recipes.
surprisingly, this is a serious thread. inorite?

Pros: Honest, good friends who are smart and witty and supportive.
Cons: trolls who enjoy being complete jerks, day in and day out.0 -
What are their reasons for deactivating? This could influence the pros/cons list.0

Pros: kitteh gifs

Pros: Accountability, enlightenment (I think we all believe we eat better than we actually do), support
Cons: Accountability and enlightenment aren't always things people are willing to accept.0 -
Pro's: surrounding yourself with others on the same wavelength when it comes to healthy eating is very important.
Cons: Cals for exercise are sometimes calculated a little on the high side.0 -
Pro: It really does work if you stick at it honestly
Con: it really does bring it home just how naughty some of your favourite foods were0 -
Pro: Free
Con: Food database is an all-volunteer effort.
I'd pay for a good database with no duplicates.0 -
Pros: random, yet hilarious fail gifs.
Cons: Nutellabrah0 -
Pros: Counting Macros/micros as well as calories, and getting some kind of support, and motivation. (this should be the main purpose of this site am I right?)
Sharing your progress with others as well as asking for encouragement.
Cons: So many opinionated "smart" people who'd give you "pro" advice, and who believe they have the ultimate solution, or just think that because they know some stuff they have the right to object other sources based on ignorance or sheer desire to do so.
Procrastination (namely chit-chat, fun, and games)
People updating their status for every bite of food they eat, clogging posts which are 'really' important and need support.
People desperate to get laid. (I'm not talking about just simple flirt)0 -
cons: 98% of the people who post on the forum, the constant and dreadful misogyny displayed by all genders here
pros: anything on the site not related to the forum0 -
pros: track my foood
cons: everyone0 -
pros: track my foood
cons: everyone
Then why are you in the forums?0 -
Pros: random, yet hilarious fail gifs.
Cons: Nutellabrah
I kinda miss the occasional hilarious stroll through the enchanted Nutella forest.

Pro- if you actually do it, it works.
con- changing your life style is hard work and many people expect weight loss to be easy...and it isn't. It makes you realize how disgustingly bad you were eating before MFP and it totally makes me judge everyone else around me when we eat. A lot of my family members get upset because I will tell them how many calories is actually on their dinner plate and they tell me it ruins their appetite...well duh, 2300 calorie dinner should ruin your appetite.0 -
Pro: Threads in Chit-Chat can be funny with funny gifs
Con: Threads everywhere else about thigh gaps...it is getting old0 -
Pro: Brothers husband
Con: Sisters Wife

Pro - if you actually use the site to log your food and track it you can lose weight
Con - It seems and functions more like a dating site, especially if you use the Chit-Chat room.0 -
PRO: Motivation provided by others postings, NSV's, and pictures of members in impeccable shape.(Torso pics namely)
Cons: People who peruse the threads in search of something that is not to their liking, then assembling the internet police SWAT team and launching a full fledged butt hurt attack, but never really posting anything else.0
