Is 15 mins of kettlebell-ing good enough?

Options
On average I do 15 minutes minimum of kettle bell workouts 3-5 times a week. I don't have a HRM so I don't know how much I'm burning but I'd like to estimate it to a 100 cals. Do you think this routine will help me lose weight/burn fat/gain muscle?

My workout is either from fitnessblender.com (non-stop endurance kettlebell workout; 15 minute kettlebell workout) OR I do my own circuit of high 45 secs and low 15 secs consisting of swings, one hand swings, figure 8s, halo, squat and press, rows, russian twists, deadlift and high pull, and whatever i can think of :))

Stats: 5'2, 19yo, 120lbs, 1300 net cal

You'll lose weight if you're at a calorie defecit - regardless of the exercise ....

that said - exercise (particularly resistence training / weights) will improve your lean muscle mass, increase your fitness etc...

15 mins isn't a vast amount of exercise; A 1 mile run for me at around 12 minute pace burns 100 calories and my heart rate hits 140 for that from a resting pace of 58.

15 mins of kettlebell - depending on their weight - will give you a reasonably good all-over workout and if the intensity is high and you are breathless, then you'll burn more calories.

15 mins is better than nothing ..... but I always try do do at least 40 minutes of HIIT so I'm not just burning my overnight glycogen reserves and am entering fatburn mode.......

15 mins of kettle bells is better than no minutes of anything. Keep up the good work.

i'd like to know more about 'overnight glycogen reserves' and 'fat burn mode' please.

have a look at this article which talks you through exercise and different "zones" :

    http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/following-a-cardio-plan-for-weight-loss.seriesId-320132.html

..and here's an article I've found at random to talk about glycogen (carb stored energy) and fat as energy ...

There are plenty of other resources and google is your friend :-)
