Am I doing this right?

I love the gym, but I stick to cardio. It isn't that I have not wanted to try the weight section but I have always been pretty intimidated. I live in a small community so my gym is the rec centre and I am not sure that the people that work there know all that much about weights. So, I have been reading, and researching. I downloaded an arm workout and put it in my gym bag for a day I would be ready. I got there today and there was nobody in the gym so I figured I would give it a try. Here is what I did:
10 reps and 3 sets resting 45 seconds to 1 minute between sets
Arnold Press - 15 lbs
Bent Over Row - 15 lbs
Push Up to T (but I can only do girl pushups so I started at the top position and raised my arm up with these) 10 lbs
upright row = 8 lbs
french press - 8 lbs
twisting curl - 15 lbs
It took about 45 minutes which is about the same as my cardio and on the last set my arms were shaking and I had to push for the last few reps. When I left my arms were burning but I wasn't crazy out of breath nor was I drenched in sweat like after a run or elliptical.
I guess my question is when you start lifting weights do you get that same feeling as cardio, as I type this my arms are still sore, but I guess I have just always equated working out with being out of breath and sweating...I thought I worked hard but now I am wondering if I didn't do something right.

If you are new to lifting I would suggest a beginner full body routine that uses compound lifts, too many of your lifts are isolation and would use way more time to get an effective workout you could do with compounds.
I suggest checking out New Rules of lifting, Starting strength, or stronglifts 5x50 -
Thanks for your advice Erick, I will look into all those suggestions today. I did enjoy the workout and now that I took that first step I think I would be comfortable going back in there a few times a week.0
