Cardiologist was impressed with me

So I had a scare early in the week, I had a heavy feeling in my chest for several hours so I went to the ER.

A little history I have multiple sclerosis, I am almost 38, I work full time in a job that has me on my feet all day, I just finished coaching my cheer leading season which lasted from October until this past Saturday and I didn't have an assistant coach this year, it was also our schools year to host our league tournament for basketball and cheer leading and our athletic director stepped down suddenly due to health issues which dumped it into my and two other peoples lap to put together, there has also been some tension at work due to personality conflicts and a general feeling of derision and a lack of working together and instead being petty and childish. So basically I have been very stressed out which is bad for my MS and I have been so busy that what had become a very regular and fairly active exercise routine fell by the way side, which probably would have helped with my stress.

So they did a lot of testing to rule out heart issues, including a stress test. All my blood work and EKGs came back great but they still wanted to do the stress test to be sure.. Well if you have never had a stress test I had to have an ultrasound of my heart before we began, then they put me on a treadmill that started at a lower speed and incline then increased both speed and incline until my heart got to a certain target rate, once you reach that target you must get off immediately lay down and have another ultrasound done on the heart. Well while the tech was doing the ultrasound the cardiologist commented that " wow her heart rate is going back to normally very quickly" so I asked if that was a good thing, I always thought it was but the way he said it I doubted myself. Then once he looked at the pictures with the tech he told me it was not my heart and that yes it was a good thing that my heart rate returned to normal so quickly it meant I was in " very good shape"! Woohoo!

Considering a year and a half ago I weighed almost 300lbs and was not in good shape at all , I am thrilled. Of course I still have to work on some things but I have made great strides in my health. My issue was most likely a combination of dehydration, stress, and my MS but I will be following up with my doctor on Tuesday and we'll see what she has to say.

I know I need to get back to my exercise routine and back to drinking my water and hopefully with the end of all the craziness this year with cheerleading over the stress at work will not bother me so much. And if you got this far thanks for letting me ramble, it decreases my stress lol.

So in closing please remember no matter where you are in physical health, no matter how far you have let yourself go, every small step adds up and you can increase your health, you just have to start with small changes and build on them :) good luck in attaining your goals!

Really awesome. Looking good is great, but this kind of health benefit is invaluable. Nice work!!

That's fantastic! NSVs tend to be so much more impactful than scale victories. Well done.
