Hello all. I'm in the market for an indoor rowing machine. I was wondering which is better, the free arm one, or the one with just a standard rigid handlebar? (sorry if terminology is wrong) Also, I have about $400 I can potentially spend on this. Thanks for any advice.

I may be a bit partial, but even a used concept 2 for 400 is way better than the next best alternative. They will go for - eV - er with once per year maintenance.

Yes, get a concept 2 if you can. They're great.

    Agree with used Concept 2.

Personally I have a WaterRower, but as that's comparable with a Concept its outside your budget. If you can get either second hand that would be your best approach.

Notwithstanding that, avoid anything with a hydraulic shaft or springs, the resistance isn't consistent or strong enough. Look for air fan resistance, or at a pinch a magnetic resistance.
