Does anyone here not track calories burnt? If so how goes your weight loss?

The reason why I am asking is that I think the transmitter in my Polar FT4 went, and I don't have the receipt for when I bought it a year ago so I can't get warranty work done on it. I can't really afford to buy a new one.

I always keep track of calories that I eat and I know what to eat on hard working out days, not so hard working out days, and rest days. I know roughly that I burn 500-600 calories an hour on lifting days.

What to do, what to do.....

There are other websites, but I find I like this one ...

    FitnessFrog.Com

Go to the TDEE calculator and figure out how many calories you would need to maintenance, it factors in your exercise.

then -20% or -15% for weightloss.

If you have a set routine of exercise, this is the way to go. You dont eat back exercise calories as it is already factored in.

Might it just be a matter of the transmitter needing a new battery? Supposedly you can change them yourself but I found it nearly impossible to open the back without causing damage so I brought it to the jewelry store and had them put a new battery in. The back of transmitter shows what battery it needs.

I'm sort of in the same boat currently - the battery in the watch part of my FT4 died on me all of a sudden this week so I'm without my HRM until I put a new one in. What I do is go by the average burn for things I do often. When you're in your exercise diary, click where it says printable version down in the lower left and when you get to that page, set the date range and uncheck all but exercise diary and click Change Report and it'll display history for the dates you chose. Then I'll pick a few random loggings of the same exercise, figure out the calories per minute, take the average and apply that to today's workout.

If that's too much work, maybe try the TDEE method as suggested above.

I replaced the battery on mine myself and now it's not working, so i'm sure I messed it up somehow.

I'm just wondering if I should even bother worrying about how many calories I burn anymore, and maybe taking your advice as doing the TDEE method. But do you eat that many calories on non-workout days? I workout 5-6 days a week, and I don't wanna over eat on non-workout days.

If it's a year old it's not out of the question that the battery is dead.

what training are you doing? HRMs really aren't relevant for resistance training

I'm doing Ashley Conrad's 21 day clutch. On lifting days I get about 15-20 minutes of cardio, and about 40-45 mins of lifting.

If you're not doing a great deal of CV work then I'd just stick with what this platform recommends and knock off a percentage to accont for estimation. But I would suggest the battery might need changed. My HRM usually plays up after about a year of use and needs more juice.
