Seeing a nutritionist

I went to my endocrinology appointment this morning for my hypothyroidism and she referred me to a nutrition office that they refer to for patients in the same boat as I am, so I stopped by their office and checked them out. My insurance covers the visit, so money isn't an issue, but my question is has any of you worked with one before? If so, do the nutritionists tell you things that you knew already or could find out by doing a simple Google search? TIA!
