So once a month I'm just ravenous. .. like not satisfied and need to eat something NOW. 1000 calories later... finally satiated. Is it hormones? Blood sugar thing? My cycle is messed up and it's twice this month. No I'm not pregnant...

I had a cheeseburger and fries yesterday and it felt like I hadn't even eaten. I would get your hormones checked by a doctor if you've already had PMS
ETA: I'm feeling like that too and mine is just regular pms0 -
I just went through this two days ago.
It's your female body.0 -
yup, isn't being female wonderful? lol. Don't feel bad, just try to make the best of it. I ate an entire box of ho-hos in 2 days a few weeks ago b/c of the same issue along with some other bad foods. Just try to drink enough water and if you need something extra to keep you from losing it, honestly try to eat as healthy as you can the rest of the time.0

Yeah that's the thing, usually it lasts 2 days and it's about a week before my period... that was 10 days ago. I still don't have my period now, and it's starting again, but I've been bleeding on and off for 2 weeks. My lowest weight was yesterday too, which would never happen if I was going to have my period. I have no idea what's going on. I'm 2 days late as it is... and I never ovulated this month as far as I know... just bled (sorry if TMI!).
And it's starting again, and I'm already 600 calories over my goal (granted, not the best choices, but I had an egg white omelet earlier and it just didn't cut it). It's ridiculous... Before I started watching what I eat I used to eat a whole box of pasta with sauce to make it go away.0 -
YEP. I get ravenous and have terrible cravings. A 3Musketeers later, I'm satisfied.
Can you increase your water intake? Focus on high-volume, low calorie "fillers" to satisfy the hunger(like a large bag of 94% ff popcorn @ 250 calories instead of a medium bag of chips at 500+ calories?) and then have one or two small high-cal treats to satisfy a craving?0 -
Been trying, not working so well, lol. I don't have cravings as much as I could eat about anything, but carbs just sound much better. Go figure. I'd totally have eaten the popcorn if I had some though. I've been drinking all day too (I'm at 2.5 liters or something). I even took a multivitamin just in case.
I've been feeling weak and tired too though so it might be more this time, I don't know. I did a good weight workout this morning and I walked 2.5 miles. I've never had it this bad before (I'm way over my TDEE now and it's not even 5pm). I just hope it doesn't last.
Thanks for the replies all, it's nice to know it doesn't only happen to me.0 -
right there with you today. ate 300+ cals in snacks, still hungry, and now dinner is in the oven and the smell is making my mouth water. but since i ate snacks early, i cant have ice cream tonight. i'll have 100 cals left after dinner.
and i dont really have anything in the house thats under 100 that i actually want instead of ice cream. (and its chocolate marshmallow ice cream too)
not even CLOSE to TOM either. bah.0 -
It's weird, the older i've gotten, the worse my pms has gotten and the earlier the symptoms start. I nearly punched a wall last night due to hanger. The only thing I know how to do is just go to bed if it's at night. If it's during the day, i'm usually pretty good if I'm at work because I don't keep food here unless it's for lunch.
If it's during the weekend, forget it. lol0 -

It sounds to me again and again that your body is just trying to make up for the deficit. Your hormones and cycle would return to normal if you gave into your hunger but right now, your body seems to be entering a self-induced state of starvation (like, real starvation- not the rumored "starvation mode because you skipped breakfast" kind often mentioned around here...). It's putting all of the energy you do consume toward basic survival and giving up on having a regular monthly cycle.0 -
It's weird though, it's not like I've been having a huge deficit, heck I increased my goal last month.0

Probably, especially if it's 1x a month...I just switched my BCP and went through a month of being starving all the time and having major sugar cravings. Now that my body has settled into the new meds I'm doing much better...0
