college gal

Hello all!
My name is Jakeya and I am a college student in the past year I've gained about 15lbs simply from the foods I eat on campus! There are not many options that are healthy and that makes things a heck of a lot harder. Thankfully my university has an awesome gym and I take advantage of that but I'm still at a loss when it comes to eating! Any suggestions?

I hear you! I gained a bit when i first started uni too. You should definitely look into getting to a grocery store! Those food joints are dangerous. My school offers fresh produce hampers you can order every so often, not sure if yours has a similar option? I find I'm too busy to be in the kitchen for extended periods of time, so personally i stay stocked up on fruit and veggies (fresh and frozen). It's so easy to grab a banana or apple before class, or cut and portion a bunch of veggies. The frozen is sort of like a back up when i run out of fresh. I like to thaw whole strawberries overnight and take it in my lunch, ect. Lots of nut and seed mixes, again really easy to portion and take along. I love making smoothies. umm Oatmeal is quick and easy too. Sandwiches or salads for lunch. Lately I'm addicted to making this bean salad with canned mixed beans, chopped veggies and renees poppy seed dressing. Keeps me full all day! You can make a big batch and it lasts a few days. For dinner i mostly stick to frozen fish/meat, veggies and sometimes rice. I notice most times if i buy too much fresh, i always end up really busy with papers or study, and it ends up going bad :/ I find making extra of anything and portioning it for a few days goes a long way. Anyways, hope that helps a little :)

I always always always supplement meals that they have on campus with things that I make myself. I always have a healthy snack/drink available that won't cause any detriment to my weight loss. You don't have to cook, simply prepare? Try and look into coupons at grocery stores that are available around you, and stock up on items when they are on sale. Use a community kitchen or invest in pots if you can, to make your own food, I know a lot of campuses have some sort of community kitchen space. Um, feel free to message me with any questions if you want more information or just want a supportive friend ^^
