When you plan to splurge...

Do you bank your calories, or workout more to compensate? If you treat yourself to a 600 calorie cupcake (for instance I have no idea how accurate that is), do you short yourself 600 calories the day before, skip 600 calories on a meal, or workout 30 minutes more?

Don't put to much thought into it. Usually normal workout and eat whatever i want. NEVER gorge myself. Just enjoy.0

When I know I'm going to be having a dessert like cheesecake or pavlova I try my best to get a workout in and an extra walk as well.0

I work out more and eat fewer calories before the splurge.0

i make up for it the next day. i usually only splurge on date night with hubby, and its not a given we will get to go, it depends on if my sitter is able to watch the kids, and what night hubby has off from work. and i dont want to eat really light all day to save them up and then not get to go. i try to stay as close to within my goal as i can even then though. i will go over by a little bit but i have yet to go over by more than 100 since i started logging here.0

You can't really bank calories beyond a day. So if I know I want that cupcake, I'll eat a lighter snack, take a longer walk, or just own the choice and go over with a clear conscience. That all I can do. I refuse to carry around the extra weight of guilt. It is just one day, so I move on and make tomorrow a good one! Besides - everyone needs a treat day - plus it helps remind your body that you really AREN'T starving...lol.0

If I know I will be eating a higher calorie food, I will try to offset that during the day by eating lower calorie foods. Thus, I try to fit it all in my day's totals. I will also cut back on calories the next day if necessary, spreading out the extra calories over 2 days.
For instance, I know we are eating out tonight, which usually involves more calories. So for lunch, I have a 60 calorie bad of salad and a serving of low cal dressing.0 -
Either work a spluge into your day or if just eat the treat and enjoy! One treat is not going to make or break you. It all evens out in the long run.0

I look at things from a weekly standpoint. It just kind of evens out naturally I guess. I typically have a higher deficit during the week and eat more on the weekends.0

I tend to look at the week more. I save up over several days if there is an event or a romantic weekend with hubby or something like that. I do not go below 1300 any day unless I did a late night workout and didn't have a chance to eat some calories back.0
