I am in prehypertension and I dont really cook regular food well. A lot of my food is microwaved. If anyone here can recommend me low sodium frozen foods it would be appreciated. If you dont know specific brands are there certain things you can look at in a meal that will signify that it has a lower sodium amount in it then others.

I can not answer at moment but I guess they are all kind of high in sodium .I would look at labels on packages for Lean Cuisine ,Atkins and Healthy Choice . I am just assuming those would be better choice.I have Lean Cuisine in my freezer and love them but find lately because of sodium content often put them back for other choices as I have high Blood Pressure.

Amy's Kitchen makes a lower sodium line of frozen foods.

I don't eat frozen meals much anymore (I don't cook either) and I don' t know if this will be good for you since you have health issues but when I do eat a frozen meal, I check out the potassium in it too. If the ratio of sodium to potassium is close, I don't worry about it. There's supposed to be some symbiotic relationship between the two but, honestly, I came up with that little trick in my head and I'm not sure it even works or helps.

Otherwise, find other ways to keep your sodium lower so you can have those frozen meals. I eat a lot of no salt added cottage cheese and greek yogurt which really help. Or go on a raw food diet? I know know!

FORGET ADKINS! i was at the grocery and one entree had 800 grams! too high for such a small meal.

After looking at the bad sodium content, if you could make a simple stew or chilli, then after it kinda cools down, put a serving in a plastic baggie and put in freezer, voila frozen food! (and no sodium added). if you could learn to cook a few things, it could help. Can i help you with any cooking problems you might be having?

I don't know what you consider low sodium, but Lean Cuisine lets you search by Nutritional Information

    Several dinners under 500mg

I like the Alfredo & Cranberry Apple Chicken

Really, if there is any possible way, cook it yourself. Those meals are loaded with sodium and sugar.

A George Forman grill is very quick and easy to use. You can grill a boneless skinless chicken breast and fresh veggies in minutes. There are a lot of spice mixes you can use that have no salt in them. You don't have to be a good cook to use them. It is quite a bit cheaper in the long run.

You can also go to your grocery store and they have ready made food in the deli and wherever else they put ready made food. they have cut up salad greens in produce, you can pick up a bottle of salad dressing there too, you can buy cooked chicken chunks to add to it, you can get chicken from the deli and they will slice it for you in whatever thickness you want, they have ready made salads. ok so not everything is diet in these sections, but I think they may be far better and better tasting than tv dinner entrees which really do not have much good food in them, and not enough. well a few are kinda good, but you can sort of make your own food from just things they sell in the store.
