Calorie Intake Help

So I know there are posts all over the place about this subject. But in my fitness profile, I told MFP that I want to lose 2 lbs a week. It is telling me I need to consume 1200 net calories a day to lose weight. This seems really low for me. I'm thinking around 1500-1800 would be more ideal. What are your opinions?
Here are my stats:
Male
5'8"
Current Weight:170
Goal Weight: 150
Sedentary lifestyle at work and home (other than daily exercise)
I understand the concept of eating back calories after working out, just want to make sure I consume the right amount. I'm not too worried about the scale. Just want to try my best to reach my fitness goals.
