So I have had a lifestyle change beginning the 3rd of March. In that time live lost around 8/9 lbs and 14 inches. Can anyone explain the inch loss? For example this week I lost 0.4lbs but lost 4 inches….

Great work! I'm no expert here but I'm thinking muscle gain or water retention? I'm sure someone with a better idea will respond soon!0

I have no idea really and I expect someone who has done the research will give a technical answer.
For me, it felt like, as I strengthened and tightened my core muscles it was a bit like putting on a corset - pulled everything in. I find exercising makes me looker tighter and slimmer while controlling my calorie intake loses weight. Oddly - I never seem to lose inches and weight in the same week!
Whatever the reason -keep up the good work.0 -
Two years ago, I ran/walked every day and ate cleaner. I lost 7lbs and around 10 inches off my entire body in 16 days (arms, legs, waist, hips, ect)
I've personally always noticed a huge drop early on. I don't know what your diet was like before, but the sudden shift in lifestyle may be a factor. Usually it'll slow down for me once I get into a routine. Since you've only just begun, that could be a possible reason.0 -

I'd also make sure you're measuring correctly; If I don't measure in the same spot every time, the measurements can be a lot different! Even being an inch or two away from my original measuring spot can have me off by 1-2 inches.0 -
Weight/fat comes off in weird ways. It has everything to do with the kind of exercises you're doing and genetics. I have had months where I lost 3lbs, and 6 inches off my waist...and nothing anywhere else. I remember one week when I was first starting to work on my arms, and noticed a difference in the mirror - no weight loss, but my arms were 2 inches smaller in just a few days.
You can't gain muscle while eating at a deficit, but you can absolutely tone them...and this is probably what is happening with you. Muscles are being worked, so they're getting more toned...and you're losing inches. Great work!0
