Did you see the deal about SELF magazine making fun of the lady who wore a tutu during a race?? The lady in question happened to be dressed as Wonder Woman and makes/sells tutus to raise money for other racers. She also happens to have brain cancer and is in the middle of chemo treatments. The magazine has since apologized (will reserve my comments).
Now, I know there are a ton of you out there that wear your tutus with pride. Let's see em!!

I don't have any pictures of mine!! But the last race I did with my sisters, I made all of us tutus with superhero themes, my oldest sisters was Batman, my middle sisters was Wonder Woman, and mine was Starfire!

I thought it was the standard thing for people to dress up in silly costumes while running races to raise money for charity. It was like that when I was a kid even, so it's nothing new....

stupid magazine for not realising that!!

I wear a tutu for every race.... Legit.

Last race I did I brought one for my BFF and she wore one, too. I can't ever figure out how to post pics, but I changed my profile pic to show you it's true! :drinker:

The magazine also said she was in Central Park when she was in LA.

It was a clusterBLEEP all the way around. That magazine didn't used to be so mean-spirited, but I'm glad I no longer subscribe.

No matter why she was wearing the tutu, the "article" was ridiculous. I have seen a lot of people wear tutus for races, but none of them have ever claimed to wear them because they thought they would run faster (as the "article" claims is the reason). Poor journalism and mean. Just wrong all the way around.

I don't wear tutus to run because I would be physically uncomfortable. But if someone enjoys it, I see no reason for me to care.

I don't have a pic, but I still have my pink, purple and black tutu I wore for a Bust a Move fundraiser. (A local breast cancer awareness fundraiser.)

A magazine for women says that it "inadvertently" did this? No inadvertentness at all. The writer specifically asked for the photo of Monika in her tutu to ridicule her. And you cannot tell me that no one else looked at the article before it went to press. This was deliberate and not a mistake. And this apology from their editor will not suffice (as it seems she is dwelling on that they didn't know she has cancer blah blah blah .. it should make no difference). Monika is a person first and foremost, but also a woman and an inspiration. Something that this magazine claims they embrace.

Everyone should exercise/run/walk in whatever they are comfortable in. This is bullying and their apology should be put on their own BS Meter!

Shame on Self. I won't be wasting my money on this rag any more.

And it makes me want to run out and get a tutu or something that embodies my spirit for when I walk in the next 5K!
