Got a long way to go, but i'm sure it'll be worth it.

We all know the start of the journey has us feeling motivated and ready for anything.
But within a few weeks it all starts to dwindle.
There's a statistic that most people give up after around 8 weeks of healthy living.
So, even though i'm feeling pretty good now, and who wouldn't?
For the first couple of weeks the weight falls off, and it's all great.
But when that starts to slow down, what do we need?
A supportive system of peers and friends, and that's what i'm looking for.
First things first, admitting the problem. I am morbidly obese.
My BMI is so high I could get a gastric band on the NHS (not that I ever will, petrifying and i believe i can do this on my own).
Tying my shoelaces is getting harder.
My denial of "jean sizes must just be getting smaller" doesn't really help in the long run.
So, I'm looking for a support system, friends to share the ups and downs of this journey with me.
And people who can not only give encouragement, but also advice.
So, here's to the rest of my life.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. :drinker: Here's some good info for those just starting here.

Read these before venturing into the forums with questions, then don your 'thick skin', gather up your sense of humor and open your mind. You'll do fine.

Best of luck to you on reaching your goals. :flowerforyou:

ETA: I realized after I posted this that you have been a member since 2011. oops.

You can do this! =) Feel free to add me - always great to have more supportive & encouraging friends on here. I have about 90lbs more to lose to get to my goal weight, so I know how daunting it can seem at first. Just gotta keep at it!
