PCOS. Hormonal imbalances. Lack of Sleep. Paired with perhaps too aggressive Diet & Exercise. All of those things cause excess Cortisol. Excess Cortisol causes inability to lose weight and sometimes weight gain.
  • maybe I missed it, but what kinda of a career requires running 14 miles? Just curious. Police officer or something?

Dont claim to know me like that. I haven't opened my diary because 1, I dont actually know how. I thought it was open for everyone automatically. 2. I havent used it in months now because I eat the same thing every freakin day. You dont have to believe me, that's fine. I'm not here to convince you of anything. If you cant help me then that's just the way it is. i'm here looking for some sort of tip to help me out. The food scale someone suggested seems like a good idea because maybe the package is wrong or this site is wrong and my chicken isnt 4oz like it says it is. Maybe it's 6 oz. I have no idea. But we are all in the same boat here. There is no reason to be rude to me just because I'm having trouble with something that maybe you found easy.

That is exactly the problem and why everyone said unless weighing your food - you are NOT as accurate as you think.

Calories is based on weight - not volume.

Carbs, protein, and fat all have calories per gram, not by the space they take up.

Yes, the number of servings is almost never correct per package. "about 3" could be anywhere from 2.5 to 3.7 actual servings when you weigh it, and that's if the package actually weighs as much as claimed, many times it's heavier.

Fruit with high sugar content adds up quick.

Also, I'd suggest that your eating level, even though clearly inflated from what you know, was still likely too much of a deficit for you, and with no strength training, you have lost muscle mass since the start, along with fat.
That's going to lower your maintenance from what you think it is.

So 2 ways you could go now.

You can start weighing all your food and see if you really are erasing that big of a deficit with food only, get more accurate, and then truly follow MFP's method with correct numbers. And be honest with your activity level too - did you say sedentary when you are on your feet so much for your job? Use the tool correctly.
Which includes if you walk for exercise, log it at correct speed and eat back those exercise calories. With correct logging.

    or

Assume you are eating way more than you log, and don't worry about getting more accurate with logging.
Find 250 calories of real food that you will leave out daily from whatever the real level is.
That should cause 1 lb loss in 2 weeks as a test. If it works, take another 250 off to reach 1 lb weekly.
With that method you don't have to get more accurate. So while it may appear you are eating say 1000 calories with sloppy logging - in reality you are eating say 1500-1600.
You still log and eat back exercise too.

Close. Corrections officer. I have to go through a police academy next year in order to keep my job and I've already failed it once for being unable to run at the pace they required me to. I cant fail it again so I'm really trying to lose weight so that maybe it's easier.

Honestly no one is trying to be rude, there are so many posts all the time that claim they don't lose weight even though they're eating 'so little'. Then when people dig deeper or look at their diaries, turns out they're way over eating and ta daaa there is the answer.

Sounds like you need to eat MORE, especially more protein. I mean, my jaw dropped when I saw you eat grapes and carrots for lunch. And then snack on those through out the day. And that you eat the same exact thing every day. I know many will disagree with me, but I could not live like that for very long. I would get way too bored. Food, real food is amazing and delicious and should be enjoyed! And if you are exercising everyday already and will need to start running a lot for your job, you are going to need to fuel your body with more food and protein.

Come on guys, lets be realistic here.

She hasn't opened her diary. She claims she measures, not weighs AND SHE SAYS SHE HAS BEEN EATING THE SAME EXACT THING EVERY DAY FOR OVER 120 DAYS.

and you guys think its a health problem?

She can't admit that she is overeating and she just isn't ready to lose weight yet, which is perfectly fine. Come back when you're serious.

I hear you. I cut my caloric intake by 2000 cal per week, and started exercising in a gym, thirty mins cardio, one-to one and a half hours of weight work, EVERY day for the last three months and I too have gained five pounds. So, like you I say " what the heck??"

That sounds realistic, but small enough deficit inaccurate food logging could wipe it out.

Uh no. I really do need help but luckily someone was nice enough to message me privately and offer to help me figure things out. Obviously posting on the forums here is a huge waste of time because I've been met with a lot of rudeness for no reason. We're all in the same boat and a lot of you have been nothing but horrible. I'm so happy someone actually took the time to reach out to me and offer to help guide me through this because I'm very obviously having trouble doing it alone. I thought that maybe someone else was going through the same problem as I was and could offer tips on how they overcame it. This is the second time I posted a question on this forum asking for help and both times most of you have been nothing but hurtful. Maybe losing weight was easy for you and that's fantastic, but it's very hard for me. I dont know why it's been so difficult. All I do know is I'll never ask anyone here for help again because you dont actually want to give it. All you want to do is make fun of people for having a harder time than you had.

Thank you do the person who messaged me offering their assistance. Having someone to help me out is greatly appreciated.

OP, I'm truly sorry that you've had such a negative experience in the forums. Often you can get really helpful advice but some questions seem to bring out the worst in this community.

This is exactly why I rarely come in the boards to help much anymore. I see far too much bashing, squabbles that just further confuse the original poster and downright rude behavior towards people who are genuinely confused or need serious help. This poster was very clear that she was confused and needs help. You all can't just assume that everyone who asks for help in an odd manner, because they don't know how to ask the right questions or that their diaries aren't automatically opened, are a troll, are lying or are an idiot.

Most of you should be pretty ashamed of yourselves. Everyone who uses this site needs some sort of assistance or we wouldn't be here in the first place. Not a single one of you came here knowing exactly how to use the site and how to best go about the process of losing weight. If you can't keep your petty and/or rude comments to yourselves you shouldn't be in here responding to requests for help in the first place. Stick to the Chit Chat forums where this type of behavior is quasi-acceptable. ::gets down off her soapbox::
