Today is my 12 day on Atkins, and I have been killing it! I'm looking forward to adding zumba, aerobics, and yoga back into my life on monday - I took an exercise break while allowing myself some time to deal with carb withdrawl after cutting out my daily pasta binge. So I totally feel like I am on the up and up and have a solid game plan, with a solid foundation. I've allowed for a once a month "cheat day", and today is that day! When I drink I tend to over indulge and binge drink if you will...I don't feel guilt about it in the morning, but I usually find myself waking up hung over and swearing off alcohol (until my friends make the next big plans)
Now that you're all up to speed....today....
Today is my first day since committing to a healthier lifestyle. My first day stepping into a bar with friends. My first cheat day. My friends are getting together to celebrate a birthday, and when the gang is all together the liquor flows and flows. I know this, and I know that I will enjoy several (probably too many) drinks. I have tried planing for this day, and my plan involves a vodka and diet then a water, a vodka and diet then a water, etc...I'm betting on this strategy because...god forbid you have an empty glass in front of you, it will be refilled by someone in a matter of moments making it even harder to pace yourself..plus the water should do me well to avoid dehydration, and maybe even fill my belly so bloated full that drinking the vodka wont be nearly as comfortable. This is my plan....I am dedicated....hear me roar.....
But.....................I fear................
I fear that while I am having fun, laughing, poking fun and catching up with my buddies that I'm going to lose myself...that I am going to lessen that dedication to the point of...."ahhh its a cheat day so I may as well make it worth it"....and then tomorrow when I wake up I will not only swear of alcohol (until next time) but this time I will really truly HATE myself for not staying strong....and dedicated...hear me purr....

Just wondering, could you do:
vodka diet Water vodka diet diet water diet water (repeat)
Cutting the vodka after a few drinks will save you 120 calories per drink, but having a few will still allow you to have fun and get a little loose.
Also, less booze will (at least with me) lead to less snacking.0 -
If its your cheat day let it happen. Drink what you want, eat what you want and dont worry about it. One day is not going to make or break you. I dont think about a thing on cheat days and thats what keeps you sane, because are you going to spend the rest of your life worrying about one day? Enjoy it and get back at it the next day. Trust me I BINGE drink when I go out on my cheat days, and I am still back at the weight loss.0
