Is a HRM really worth it? If so... what one is best... while being the cheapest? haha

absolutely worth it. highly recommend. i bought mine off of ebay for 24.99 schwinn. it's programmable and remembers 30 of my workouts and syncs to the machines in my gym to give me a HR reading, don't even have to look at the watch.
get the one with the chest strap.
buy it.0 -
Definitely worth it to see your TRUE calorie burn.
I have the polar F6 - it cost me about $85. WELL worth the investment. Good luck!0 -
is there a major difference between the chest strap or the watch? I think i'd prefer the watch....0

I have a Polar FT7, just think all the threads you see a day for people who do various workouts who have to "Guess" what they burn, do you want to base your weight loss sucess on a guess? It gives you a very accurate reading for calories burned and its worth it to me.0

I jus did all this research...and bought a bodybugg, lol. I was gonna buy the polar f6 tho. You can get a watch style at walmart for 30-40$ but, it needs you to put your fingers on it to read your heart rate and dosen't automatically update. If you really get into your workout you won't have any idea how many calories you burnt because you won't be accurate at guessing when your hr goes up or down. If you get the kind with the chest strap, you just wear it and it send the information to the watch to tell you what your hr is even when it changes, and it calculates calories spent too.
Defnitly go with a chest strap even tho it seems so hardcore. It is realy nice to know how many cals you burn.
On a side note, i ordered a super cool body bugg and im so freakin excited about it! lol0 -

DEFINITELY get the chest strap - more accurate... and if not for accuracy, what's the point of a HRM?0 -
PS - the ones that come with the chest strap also have the watch so you can see the read out - calories burned, heart rate, time, etc.
Good luck!0
