Hey ya'll I could really use some advice. At the gym I get on the treadmill and burn about 280 calories in an hour. I am SO tired of walking on that silly treadmill for an HOUR! I really want to run but as soon as I get a small jog going I have to stop 30 seconds later! I run out of breath so so easy and my heart starts going crazy. Well my question is, How did you train your body to get used to running? Is there a slow progress workout regime I should be doing? Because I would love to cut my treadmill time in half and burn the same if not more calories!?

Couch25K! 9 weeks ago I could not run 1 minute without wanting to quit. Now I can run 5 miles fairly easily. It takes hard work and patience. Good luck0

Do a couch to 5k (C25K) program. You can get smartphone apps or even a printout of the time tables on when you run and walk. When you start out you do 60 secs of running and 2 mins of walking and you have a rest day after everytime you exercise. It's a great way to get into running.
Also make sure you buy proper running shoes. Go to a store and try a bunch on then order off of Amazon to get the pair you want/need. Just beware, some of the running shoes are bright. I was tempted to wear my sunglasses while shopping for them.0 -
or just run your 30 secs and then walk a minute=-repeat for your time on the treadmill. It will get easier.0

C25K! Google the treadmill version - you can print it out. I would print it and cut out the square for the day I was currently on and just take the little square to the gym and set it on the treadmill. It gives the times to walk and run. Easy and so good for building up to running!
(I can't get a cell phone signal in my gym - so I can only use the apps running outside which is why I printed the squares)0 -
If you listen to music ... a trick I have used in the past is telling myself I am going to run til I hear the chorus. Then I walk and pick a new spot that I would run to. You are stronger than you think. Your mind may tell you different.0
