Stress Eating

Ok I've binged, I've sat down, I've cried and now everything is starting to make a bit more sense. At 3 o'clock I was at 1200 calories, everything was going perfectly on this lovely Friday afternoon. Then I got an email from one of my professors requesting that I bring in our graded midterms to class with us on Monday. Apparently he forgot to enter the grades. I started looking for my A test that I had studied so hard for . Alas, I couldn't find it anywhere! I was frantic and started to cry, my heart started pounding and I though that I would faint, now what would I do?

Well, I'll tell you what I did. I ate three peanut butter sandwiches.

Now, I've always had a weird relationship with food, but it gets absolutely mental when I get a panic attack. I eat and eat and eat just to try to calm myself down. The sad fact is, I don't even keep food in my room. I actually walked across campus to get these sandwiches.

Does anyone else have thing problem? If so, have you found a way to manage it? I've had panic attacks ever since I started going through puberty and the wanton eating is one of the more unfortunate side effects.

To make things worse, my parents are arriving coming into town in the next half hour. I'll be busy entertaining them, so I can't fit in a nice evening run to help mitigate the damage. Oh, and they fully expect me to take them out to dinner. I don't know how I'll handle that.

The worst thing about all of this is that I found my stupid test right after I got back from the dining hall :(

    Hi

I hope you can enjoy your family visit and have lots of fun. Try to eat the healthier food item(s) available, if not go back to your nutrition plan as soon as you can.

I used to stress eat. I took advantage of a program provided by my health insurance to cope with it. It has been very helpful. Basically, it was the availability of a health professional that helped me to find the root cause of my overeating. Knowing the cause, you can remediate. Also, they taught me tools and coping mechanism.

I suggest to contact a health professional at your college or under your parents medical insurance. It will be worth a try.

    Good luck and big hug
