Totally weird

So the last week included what would have been my deceased husbands 27th birthday. I've continued to log my calories but have gone over almost everyday (im doing TDEE @ 1697 calories) and have eaten snack foods and pizza almost everyday. I had been at this road block of 180 lbs, couldn't get below it and suddenly dropped down below it. I actually hit 178 the day before the crappy eating but even after all of the crap I weighed in at 177 today. I find this totally weird, any explanations? I'm 5'2" and 26 years old.

Yep. I've had that happen. No idea why it happens, but it is always a nice suprise.

Sometimes your body just needs a re-feed week to boost metabolism. If I'm stuck I'll sometimes take a rest week and eat whatever I want (within reason- not going over maintenance) and when I come back I've dropped.

Happened to me every time I upped my calories until I found my true maintenance amount. (I went from 1200 to 2600, so I consider that a win!)

The explanation I've read is that it signals your body to release water weight that you've been holding due to dieting.

Some people are really sensitive to stress and whatever life events they're experiencing show up in their bodies. I'd guess that even if your late husband's birthday wasn't stressful for you in a negative way, it was probably significant. I would just take the weight loss as a positive surprise or a present from him and celebrate it.

Good job on being pleasantly surprised by your lbs. lost! And so sorry to hear that your husband passed away -- that's tough at any age, but especially so young. My condolences to you. :flowerforyou:
