Rythmic exercise

Hi, I'm new to the message boards.

I was just reading a presentation someone wrote about rythmic exercise - running, swimming, rowing, biking. It was talking about the inner mantra that your mind switches to as the cadence of the exercise starts to act like a huge metranome, pulling everything into a complimentary beat - your breathing, your stride, even your thoughts. This part of the presentation really resonated with me:

"…Swing, land, extend, move, breathe,… come back. Don’t worry about thinking, it’s natural to have thoughts,… come back

Letting go of the past and not being drawn to the future, be present to this moment. By noticing how we feel, we gain strength. Movement is good for the body, stillness is good for the mind…"

The cool thing about rythmic exercise is once you're in the zone, the body takes over and the conscious mind is free to go and do other things. Where does your mind go?

I totally agree and what a wonderful way to get out of your head for a bit while taking care of your body!
