Hi all! I am Kay. I am 44, and according to the BMI chart, I am morbidly obese. Geez that sucks just typing that out! Anyways, I don't feel that way, overweight yes, but morbidly obese? No. Yes, I have over 100lbs to lose. fortunately I am tall (5'11")....and it is pretty spread out all over! I was never overweight until I had my son 17yrs ago...went through bad PPD that I never had treated and put on a ton of weight. And I have been that way since. Except for one year when doc put me on phentermine. I lost the weight, but also lost a lot of muscle. And like most, I didn't keep it off. So here I am, back again. Doc is wanting me on Belviq. I am trying to do it on my own. I have until 4/21 to prove to both of us, I can. It has only been a week and I am down 2.8lbs. I am not starving myself. Just making better choices, smaller portions, no more fast food and getting my butt off the couch and moving! I am not on a diet, diets are temporary and so is the weightloss. Trying to make a new forever for myself.
I have a lot motivating me this time. My Dad, who was thin but ate crap for years, passed away in December at 72, from complications of bypass surgery. His heart problems began at 50, so I am at high risk. I need to make positive changes before it is too late.
I have 4 kids still at home, with the youngest being only 4.5yrs. I have lot of parenting left to do and fully intend on being around to do it! I am married, going on 19yrs. My husband travels a lot, so a lot of the daily responsibilities fall on me. I also work f/t, so I am a pretty busy lady. Got in a rut of coming home, making dinner and parking my hiney on the couch. NO MORE! Last night, my almost 7yr old twin boys and I went for a 2.5+ mile walk. Well, they ran 1/2 of it! Oh to have their energy! LOL
So that is pretty much me.

Hi Kay. My name is Amy. My wake up call came when I was sick of seeing myself in the mirror every day. I have grown children and a 5 year old grandson that I want to be around for a long time.
Feel free to add me as a friend. We can help motivate each other. I still have a problem of getting home from work and making supper and then sitting on the couch the rest of the night and doing absolutely nothing. I have a hard time finding any motivation to exercise. I really try to eat well and find myself looking at the labels of every food that I think about sticking in my mouth. I feel I am doing well at portion sizes and watching labels. It is more difficult when you have to feed a family and they don't have to worry about what they eat or their weight.
Good luck!!!0 -
Thanks Amy! So ready to do this!0

Great start, Kay. That's the hardest part. This is my second start with My Fitness Pal, but this time I'm going to stick with it. We can do this!0

It is. And not letting the scale railroad you. Like this morning, I am up 2 pounds. I know it is water retention. We were at the lake yesterday and while I didn't eat great, I was still under my calories...it is the sodium and diet pop kicking my *kitten*. So I am sitting here this morning enjoy in a large bottle of water!0
