I've noticed that sugar cravings are a common issue many of use deal with daily. I would like to know other people's strategies for dealing with these cravings. Currently, when I have a craving, I put an orange tic tac under my tongue and let it slowly dissolve. It is only 1.9 calories and gives me just enough sweet taste to keep me from binging on chocolate bars and cookies. i still occasionally succumb, but this has helped me cut back significantly.
I'm curious to hear how other people handle sugar cravings.

How I handle ANY craving or hunger is by setting a timer for 20 minutes. It usually takes 20 minutes for a craving to subside so if I let the timer go off I'm no longer craving what I thought I wanted. It also works to know if you're hungry or not. Take a big drink of water then set a timer, wait for it to go off, and if you still feel hungry eat a bit of something.0

For me, the only way was to cut out things that affect my blood sugar entirely. If I have them once a week the cravings come back full force. I can't even regularly eat anything with a sweet taste as it has a similar effect.
Your strategy seems to be working for you, that's great. For me, when I changed my diet and reduced carbohydrates I found I don't even get cravings anymore and I'd rather not have them at all . Certain foods just have that effect on your body - make you feel highly satiated and blunt your appetite and you no longer feel the need for sweets and treats. It's very freeing!
I have heard it suggested that cravings can be a sign of deficiency so it may be a good idea to take a look at your diet and see if you're getting a wider range of nutrients, or perhaps try a multivitamin for a while. One with cinnamon can really help with cravings too!0 -
I do like tic tacs and sugar free hard candies for a quick sweet. Fruit is great when craving sweets but I also have to limit my carbs, and many fruits are high carbs too. Greek yogurt with some berries is good.
I try to go for protein, so yogurt, cheese, hardboiled eggs, nuts, peanut butter, milk etc. But I do love Skinny Cow products! They have ice cream bars and crisp bars that are wonderful yet lower in carbs and cals than standard ice cream and candy bars. Not an everyday treat but wonderful on occasion.0
