Read Any Good Books Lately?

Check out Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. It's inspired by the story of the last woman to be executed in Iceland. I'm about halfway through it and it's incredible.

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown
Christiane F. by Christiane F
My favorite books right there!0 -
I'm reading The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom right now. Along the lines of The Help. Very good so far.0

Just my own novel that I'm editing/rereading before I send it off to an agent. (Sorry, was that a shameless plug?) LOL
Seriously though I just downloaded a couple of books that I haven't started yet. One I read a LONG time ago:
Outlander
The other is one I just found on Amazon:
The Demon Awakens
I'm really into series. I don't like it when books end.0 -

I know I came to this series really late but I'm really enjoying the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon0

Push-Sapphire
*kitten* out of Carolina-Dorothy Allison
The Color Purple-Alice Walker
These are the only non-academic books I've read recently and I love them. They all deal with issues of domestic violence and rape, so they may be triggering for some readers.0 -
I'm reading through the Game of Thrones series right now (on #3) they are one of my favorites. Prior to that I read Gone Girl, Burial Rites, The Fault in Our Stars (sad but good!), 12 Years a Slave. All of them are movies as well (the 1st 3 haven't come out just yet but soon!). I always love to read the book prior to seeing the movie, that's just me lol.0

Awhile ago, I read "How to Be An American Housewife" by Margaret Dilloway and loved it. Also just reread one of my all-time favorites, Lucy Knisley's "French Milk" (kind of a graphic novel slash biography).
If anyone cares to check it out, here's a link to my Pinterest board of what I have read so far this year with ratings of each.

I also did it in 2012 and 2013 so those are on it, too. And my current top 10 fav of all time. Cheers!0 -
Me before you by Jojo moyes. Excellent. Or memoirs of an imaginary friend by matthew D-i-c-k-s. (Mfp thinks I'm swearing) Just to name a couple0

Just finished Judge and Jury by James Patterson. I love his books, he's my favourite author. Was quite an intense book for his writing!0

I'm currently reading Under the Dome by Stephen King. I have some strongly mixed feelings about it, but I would recommend it. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is my all-time favourite. Clockwork Angel by that Clare lady was really good as well, and Sunshine by Robin McKinley is... interesting. :P The Black Book of Secrets was also a fairly good read, but I can't remember if it was aimed more toward a younger audience or not (usually books aimed toward younger audiences use a certain way of writing that frustrates me because it's too dumbed down) it's been a few years.0

It's not new, but I just read 'The Story of Edgar Sawtelle' by David Wroblewski. Great story, regardless, but particularly if you like dogs.0
