Hello MFP'ers!! First and foremost, I've been around the community just checking things out and I'm can't express enough how amazed I am by the transformations that has been shared. Congratulations to all of you. I found MFP when my fiance came across an article about a women that lost over a hundred pounds, and she owed it to the MFP App and healthy lifestyles. I've logged in for 20 days thus far, which is the longest I have stuck with a diet/ weight loss changes.
-My Story:
My name is Michael (Mikey) and I'm 24 years old. In high school, I was the small guy. 5'2 at 132 pounds. Size 32 pants and large shirt. My best friend and I was the gym rats. While everyone else was playing basketball, hammerhead curls and bench press was our activities. After graduating and letting life slow me down (along with my exercising), the weight started to build. Fast food, pizza deliveries, and quick processed dinners became my crutch. I seen the signs telling me to stop, turn around and run away. Literally RUN away. But, of course I didn't listen.
I was recently engaged on Feb. 14, 2014 (cliche I know lol). After talking about our wedding date and looking at recent pictures of us together and being unhappy with our presence, change had to happen. It was no longer a choice. Just a mere 20 days ago, I dropped all soda, and cut my calories to 1420 (MFP recommended). 20 days ago, I weighed in at 235 pounds. Being as short as I am, that's a bad path to be on. Not to mention Type 2 Diabetes runs heavy in my family. This disease that burdens our family tree, stops with me. As of March 24, 2014, I have lost 10 pounds. 4 pounds the first week, 6 pounds the second. At the moment, very little exercise has been incorporated due to foul weather and adjusting to my meal times and such. My biggest habit, soda, has been kicked completely. Strictly water. On a very rare case, I might throw in a Crystal Light for a change up, but again that's rare due to the chemicals. I'm eating breakfast, lunch and dinner with 3 small snacks throughout the day (apples, fruit cups, etc.). I've been one that was waiting on the miracle diet or pill that would change my life. Then I dawned on me, I'm responsible for the change. It's on me. Always has been.
