need help....

a little about me so i can get the most help i can get...

i have maintained 115 lbs for over a good year now. I am 5.2 ft and would bounce around between 114-115.5 all last year. I was so happy i could maintain things even when i stopped logging from sept-dec. Well during that year i was doing clx and then t25. then went back to clx for nov and dec. I really wanted to lose body fat still, i am currently around 22% and goal is 19-20%. I really don't like being over 116 lbs either... So the beginning of this year i decided my body needed a complete change up as i saw no changes in the last 4 months as it must of been getting used to it's routine. So i started p90x3 end of Jan. I started with the lean phase
, found out i wasted a month as i saw no changes. so month 2 i switched to classic. i enjoy it much better.... I just missed week 3 as i went away for vacation so i am re starting block 2 tomorrow. My thing is since the new year has started my weight in not consistent at all any more. I bounce around all over the place where i used to be consistent! It took me 2 month to take off the 4 lbs i gained on my new years vacation, i didn't lose it till i was 1 week away from this past vacation i arrived home from yesterday. I was 114.2 ( i weigh myself weekly) so the day before we left i weighed myself and i was already up to 118...within 1 week.... got home and stepped on the scale and i was happy to see i only gained 1 lb on this past vacation but the scale is now at 119 lbs! way over my comfort zone of 116 plus my shorts were all snugger on this vacation then they wer eat my new years vacation....

so what i need help with is... do you know why i seem to be bouncing all over the place this year vs last year consistency? why can't i stay consistent at all this year?

i exercise 5-6 days a week, as with x3 it's 6-7 days a week and 30 min a day. I am eating around 15-1600 cals.... trying to keep my protein up, doing 40-30-30 and sodium under 2000. i know i do lack in getting enough water in but that has always been a issue for me....

Your weight will fluctuate. But when it gets above your comfort zone, you have to cut your calories. And it sounds to me like you're not logging. There's your problem.

Set your goal to .5 lb. per week, and log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Once you're back to 116 lb., change your goal to maintenance. If you go above your comfort zone, start logging again.

oh i am logging.. i stopped from sept to dec but as of jan and when i started x3, i started logging again... i log everything. i even went from 15-1600 cals to eating a base of 1300 and then eating back exercise cals, so on my rest day i am eating less or on the days that are less calorie burning i am eating less too.... my maintenance cals are around 17-1800 cals.

i do have it set to 0.5 lbs and that gives me 1300 cals. i have done this since jan... struggling.... not losing.... but more importantly not losing body fat!!!!!!!!

I totally get that, but it's not just that, I obviously am gaining as I can feel it in my clothes! I really could care less about the scale , it's the body fat I can't seem to lose no matter how hard I am trying. Yes I stayed the same weight all last year but I still couldn't drop body fat? I log everything, I have bounced with more/ less cals, I increased protein, I changed up my exercise program but yet I am still stuck!!!! Then to see the scale up this year is a piss off!!!!

Maybe you are overestimating your exercise calories? Do you weigh all solid foods and measure liquids with a liquid measuring cup? It is very easy to cancel out a small deficit the closer you are to your maintenance calorie goal. I also have a few friends that have stalled in weight loss while doing x3. No science to back it up but maybe that program is making you retain lots of water weight? I am so sorry you are having such a rough time! *hugs*

If you're gaining weight, then you're eating above maintenance. You're underestimating your food &/or overestimating your burns. Weigh your food.

i have to say i do have a thyroid disorder, so sometimes there is NO explanation why i gain and if it is in fact b/c of food, exercise stall or just my thyroid.. i never know and that makes it that much harder... i just never like using that as a excuse...
i log everything the way i always have and in my loss from the get go. I measure everything on a scale. i bought a new HRM a polar ft4 as i anted to make sure i was getting correct burns vs my old hrm. they are the same... just nice to know now when i am in my burning zone and it let you know when you go under or over your target rate... so that is good but burns are the same... plus when you lift your heart rate doesn't get as high and it doesn't show a good burn......
the weight i have gained can be just a fluctuation as many have mentioned before as anyone can go up and down 5 lbs.. yes.... but i just don't know why it's so hard to get off.. but more importantly i don't know why i can't seem to reduce my body fat!!!! i've been stuck at 22% since i'd say aug-sept..... i have heard alot also stalling out on x3 and some not even getting good results from it, so maybe it's a dud exercise program and i should just go back to clx????? i have even gone back to only eating back 1/2 my exercise cals but then others tell me i'm not eating enough? how does one really know if they are not eating enough or too much???? i have done my tdee and it shows i should be around that 1500 mark as well....

MFP has a Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/770-hypothyroidism-and-hyperthyroidism

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). I lost way more slowly than most MFPers, but I maintain just like everybody else.

I don't know a lot about thyroid disorders but have you been to the doctor lately to check your levels? And yeah I have had so many people say they have stalled or even gained weight on x3!! I think it is supposed to be more of a muscle building program than a weight loss program. If you enjoy it though you could always just continue with it until it ends and then do something else.

I am not 100% sure on this but isn't is hard for women to get to 20% body fat and below? I thought it takes a specific macro ratio and a progressive heavy lifting program to really see appreciable results when you are already in a healthy body fat percentage range for a female. Again, I am not totally sure on this but maybe taking a look in the Eat, Train, Progress group would be helpful for you. You could always fill out there questionnaire and see what they think about your situation :)

thx i have, right after the 1st time you posted it.

yes i also lost it at a way slower rate too, took a year just to lose 20 lbs... but now that i am trying harder and exercise more frequently, etc i feel it's harder... as when i lost my weight i was only focused on weight, and only watched my cal intake and i only exercised occasionally. now that i know i have to exercise in order to change my body composition i feel i am healthier then i have ever been, eat way better and feel more at ease about this stuff yet seem to struggle at it more.....

yes i was at the dr's in jan for my yearly blood work and all was excellent besides my low b12 and iron levels which i also get supplements for. shots every 3 weeks for b12 and now take a low dose iron supplement. I think i will continue on with x3 and finish the program, i am not a quitter ;) and if i gain b/c of muscle great and like i said i don't care if the scale goes up as long as the body fat goes down! Then i think i will go back to clx after summer till the end of the year...

not sure about the 20% body fat thing either, i read things all over the place and it all contradicts each other.... i was told that if i wanted to be 20% i should be 110 lbs... that i don't know if it will be easily maintainable? since i can't do 115 it seems,lol... especially if i am gaining muscle to lose that body fat how can i ever get to 110? i know i don't have a lot left to lose and that makes it harder, but i would like to be able to say that " i did it", even if i can't maintain it.....
