Lost 100 lbs and unhappier then before

when I graduated HS in 09 I weighed 271. I started loosing weight by eliminating carbs right away and so the weight came off fast. It only took me a year. I was excited to go from a 2x to a M/L. I worked out a lot but now I'm left with strech marks everywhere. They go from my armpits to my hips/all down my rib cage. Under my boobs to my lower abdomen. I have loose skin on my belly. I cry and get really depressed when I look at myself. I know I'm suppose to be happy with what I've accomplished but I had more confidence when I was bigger.
I have a boyfriend who tells me I look fine and to not worry about it so much but it's kinda upsetting since I feel like I worked super hard to be disappointed.
Is this common to be depressed after majot weight loss. I still work out but I'm always sad when I look in the mirror. I just want to be happy.

we are our own worst enemy. you just have to know that you look great and are healthier than when you were 271. congrats on the weight loss. I know about the loose skin and stretch marks, but that is part of who we are. we fought a battle and those are our scars. I'm sure you look beautiful. don't be so hard on yourself. =)

unfortunately I don't any light at the end of the tunnel to point you towards, but I can tell you you're not alone at least......I'm in the same boat. I much preferred how I looked when I was bigger. I have insane amounts of loose skin all over...I WISH it was just my stomach. at least I could wear short sleeves :( c'est la vie

if you lost weight that quickly than most likely you simply havn't given your skin enough time to catch up, it can take some people years for the elasticity in their skin to resolve itself (especially if you were heavier for a prolonged period of time).

depending on how you lost the weight you might want to add in some/ more strength training, it can really help fill out extra skin with muscle as well as the tension can help pull the skin too look less limp.

treat your body like a temple. if you want elastic skin treat it with care, hydrate well, eat well and protect it from more damage like sun burn.

unfortunately some issues with sag can be genetic, not all of us have skin that bounces back easily, so it may never look perfect, but its worth working hard for!

finally congrats on your weight loss, for now keep it going and try to see the glass half full!

I want to start adding strength training into my routines. I herd it helps the skin. Yea I've been drinking a bunxh of bitamin c and tryinga bunch of creams for both my marks and skin. So hopefully weights will help me feel better about myself. Thanks for the kind words. It's just hard being upset about myself all the time and being in my relationship. I feel like I need to love myself first and hating myself so much makes me push him away. It's just been making me not wanna go out and enjoy myself and I always feel stuck in a rut. It just takes time I guess to accept yourself after loosing so much

I've been told by doctors that getting regular all over deep tissue massages can help a great deal. I guess lots of rubbing helps the skin shrink faster. I was also told to take however long it had taken me to get fat and x2 that would be about how long it would take for my skin to get smaller again. Lets hope that's not true.. Or I'll be waiting 10+ years after I'm done..
Good luck and try not to be hard on yourself.

I've heard it takes 2 years of regular exercise/weight lifting to shrink your skin up. Think of it like your little secret, no one can see it with your clothes on. As for your bf, I'm sure he doesn't care about a few stretch marks.
