Tell mfp you want to lose 1 pound a week. Weigh your food with an accurate scale and log everything that passes your lips. Only eat the number of calories mfp tells you to eat. Don't go a lot under, or over. Weigh yourself in a week. If you did not lose a pound, start tweaking your activity level settings. Make sure you are not over or underestimating your activity level. Eventually you will find your sweet spot. Every ten pounds, update your goals to match the new weight.

    Good luck.

Good advice except Id add you should wait at least 6 weeks to weigh to see if you have lost weight. Random bodyweight fluctuations caused by water retention are likely to either hide or exaggerate tour weight loss. Will take several months to confirm if you are losing weight or not.

Eat fewer calories and/or exercise more.
