Anyone else struggling to lose weight in their 40's?! I started out in the New Year wanting to lose half a stone. Since then I've turned 40 and gained five pounds! ! I exercise hard 6 days a week and burn 500-600 calories a session. I measure this using a hrm. I've also in the past fortnight cut out almost all sugar hoping this would help but my weight seems to be rising!! Any tips from anyone in a similar position? ! The only thing im not doing is eating all exercise calories as I'm a bit scared to do so! ! I now have 10 to lose again! :(

Ten pounds is not much. You need to lose that at about a half pound a week.

You said you're using a heart rate monitor to track calories. What about food? Are you weight all solids and measuring all liquids? Logging every singe thing you eat? If not, this can kill any deficit you have.

Are you sure your heart rate monitor is accurately calculated? Is it one with a chest strap?

Your diary is closed so it's difficult to give concrete feedback.

If you're gaining weight, then you're eating too much. You're underestimating your food &/or overestimating your burns. Get a food scale.
