So it seems this is a pretty common thing, but my steps (only 1000 so far today) and the calories are not showing in MFP, just says fitbit adjustment 0. I have checked MFP and fitbit.com and both syned fine, just showing 0.

If you click on the adjustment, you'll see the explanation. MFP has calculated that the number of calories you'll burn today is less than your activity level.
MFP has a Fitbit a Users group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/1307-fitbit-users0 -
1000 steps is pretty sedentary.
Calories aren't added for me until I get to the 4000 step range (and then it's not a lot).
I have both MFP and Fitbit set to sedentary with no negative adjustment.0 -
I actually have left the negative adjustment on. At 1000 steps I'd still be way in the negative. To get some credit, it usually takes over 5000. I start to get decent totals at 10,000 and up.0
