Winter soup mix

Hey guys,
Just wanted to recommend the winter soup mix by Sainsbury's. You literally boil the pre chopped veg in a big pot with water and stock cubes for 20 minutes then blend it, and it's done! It's ridiculously easy to make, tastes nice and is 41 calories per 100g (cooked).

I have a giant bowl of it for my lunch and it's such a great help for meeting 1200 calorie goal which I find incredibly hard at the best times.

Anyways, hope this helps someone :)

  • We don't have Sainsbury's around here, but I'd like to rep for pre-chopped winter veggie mixes in general.

One of my favorite things to make is to buy a whole chicken, a bag of pre-diced butternut squash, parsnip, and turnip, and put the vegetables under the chicken in a crock pot. I rub the outside of the chicken with dried herbs and salt, and sometimes put lemon wedges inside. Then I cook the whole thing for ~6 hours. You get very moist, tender chicken, vegetables that are delicious and infused with the chicken juices, and lots of chicken juices (I think of it as concentrated chicken stock) that make great additions to sauces, soups, and gravies.
