Yep, one of the best investments I've made is my scale. I was way off before, both over and under estimating depending on the food.0

i told my husband last night after i brought my food scale i am in love lol it is the best thing i could have brought i am literally measuring everything and i feel more accurate then ever0

I just bought mine yesterday too, and used it to weigh my lunch today. I was understimating, and what I thought was 8 oz really wasn't even close to it. I've heard great things as well, and eventually will start weighing fruits, cereals, anything! I picked up a digital one and hopefully it will last a while.0

I was under 2-3 ounces on meat especially. I buy shaved ham or turkey and still shocked how much 3 ounces is. Who knew. Love that digital scale..0 -
Use mine for everything!
In the beginning I resisted because I was worried about getting obsessed-- but honestly its EMPOWERING! I can plan my day down to the calories (if you base it on the premise that all the database entries are 100% correct). There are a lot of estimated portions on packages that are incorrect so its great to know that those 4 crackers I had actually were about 20% more in weight that suggested in the nutrition facts. And I am still just terrible at estimating the weight for meats! I tend to over estimate portions so I was actually eating too little for many things before I got my scale, with the notable exception of chips.0 -

So far, I have discovered that I was usually eating WAY more than I should have when figuring raw meat before cooking, but way under when I was estimating sandwich meat.0 -

At almost 49 years old and having been somewhat of a foodie my whole life including lots of cooking, canning, preserving, etc. I use a scale almost daily. Although it is true that with experience you can usually be a fairly good judge of what this or that looks like quantity wise, if you are really wanting to be accurate and honest with your numbers....ya gotta measure...ya gotta weigh...ya gotta log.

I still use my food scale daily and I've been in maintenance now for nearly a year. It was a real eye opener for me when I started out...I realized I was underestimating my consumption by a good 300 - 600 calories per day just eyeballing stuff. I'm pretty good at eyeballing now, but I want to make sure I get whatever I'm entitled to on my plate more than anything...don't want to shortchange myself these days.0

I use my food scale regularly. Not only does it help me to accurately calculate my calorie intake, but it helps to calibrate my eye so when I'm at a restaurant I am a better estimator. Every time I weigh something at home, I first ask myself, "How much would I think this weighed if I was at a restaurant?" It's kind of fun, and I'm getting pretty good at it.0

Use it everyday and weigh everything that goes into my mouth, it made a HUGE difference for me in controlling portion size.0

I just switched to using a food scale over the last couple of weeks it takes some getting use to but its definitely worth it I started losing weight again after making the switch. Ive still been using the tbs for my peanut butter tho I love peanut butter you cant make me weigh it :sad:0 -
I love my food scale. I'm a recent convert. My favourite thing is that when weighing cereal versus measuring it, I actually get to have a lot more volume. Bonus!0

I use mine daily. It's funny, I've weighed my dogs food for years and often, while visiting relatives, someone would take umbrage on behalf of the dogs and angrily ask "How would you feel if someone weighed everything you ate?!". Well, now I could answer that with "It's the best thing that ever happened to me!"
And I will second the comment that frequent use of a food scale makes you a better guesstimator when you are eating food that you didn't prepare.
Oh and I find that it's easier to measure everything into one bowl (if appropriate) than using multiple measuring spoons and cups! (Fewer dishes, yeah!)0 -
buy lots of little souffle ramekins, makes measuring easier , we have like 20 of them ... and paper plates, omg ,i was always anti paper plate, but when wieghing portions, the plate is the bomb.0

using a food scale was a real eye opener for me I got a non digital but switched to using a digital which was much better still a non digital is way better than no scale at all best of luck to you and happy weighing0

I just got my scale two weeks ago and I am in love! Yes I did it this long successfully without one, but I was having a problem since February. Could not seem to break past the point I was at now, so I'd been thinking about getting a food scale and been wanting one. So I read on here that a few people really liked the Biggest Loser 11-lb Glass Digital Kitchen Scale, so I got one at Walmart. Love it!
And, boom lost 1.7 lbs and finally am back on a downward trend I have told my husband it's the best thing I've ever bought. I weigh everything now and truthfully it's kind of fun, like a game haha! Like I have read most people say, Peanut Butter was an eye opener. I thought I was already measuring conservatively...nope. I've found a few others that surprised me, Apples, condiments, cheese, and yep, cereal. But I do not eat cereal too often, so don't think that one was one of my problems.
I think the closer you get to goal you really have to be so dead on with everything to lose. So I'm happy with my food scale.0 -
I use my food scale for everything I put into my mouth. I even weigh liquids versus measure as the weight of 8 ounces of water is close to the measured amount. It is just much easier. I set my bowl on the scale and weigh out my salad dressings. It is just wonderful!0

I love my scale! I take insulin according to carbs, and carbs are counted based on portion, and the portion-you got it! needs to be weighed or measured at very least in order to be accurate!
the cheese on my sammies gets weighed every morning, 15g exactly- any overages goes to the pug!0 -
We already had a scale for measuring postage, and it's digital and does grams and oz, and I do love it! It gives me the satisfaction of knowing I'm putting in the right number of calories, not guessing, so I know I *will* lose weight! The only downside is when you're starving and you put a 'serving' of something delicious like mashed potatoes on your plate, and it's freaking tiny! But I don't blame my scale for that. I blame the USDA for being skimpy with their serving size lol.0
