Wearing high heels... shouldn't that be an exercise program?

With summer gone, I find myself having to wear high heel shoes again to work. Over are the days of sun dresses and fun flat sandals. So as I am getting use to the 2, 3, 4 inch heel all over again... I find my balance is off, my toes are cramped, and my legs have decided to attack that one muscle and make it sore. So I think that wearing heels should be thought of as an exercise program? I really can't tell if my legs are hurting from the gym or from my high heels. But either way... I want to count at least a few calories for my troubles!

Anyone else have an idea or suggestion of what a common daily activity should count for exercise?

Another one would be cleaning veggies.... you are standing over a sink for 30 plus minutes, arms extended in motion the whole time...

Any common daily activity would be included in your activity level, I wouldnt include cleaning vegetables or wearing shoes as exercise, your HR is not elevated and moving your arms isnt burning anything considerable outside of normal activity.

Oh man, one of the first times I ran... I ran on the treadmill and then went to work and put on 3 3/4" heels right after and it hurt SOOO bad just standing up. All day was torture but I got used to it!! lol I wasn't wearing high heels all summer either because I had wedges I wore with everything but I just got a new pair I've been wearing at least 4x/week and I'm just now re-learning how to walk in them. Crazy how I just forgot! I feel killer though and my calves look amazing...thanks to Jillian Michaels, and of course, Jessica Simpson for my heels.
  • @ Arielle - The good news is in a week or two, we'll be master of the heels again! Be sure to give yourself some credit for looking great in them too!

@ JRich1... you have not experienced the pain of heels!!! LOL

I do honestly know that wearing heels and cleaning veggies do not speed up your heart rate and not something beyond every day life activities. Unless you are wearing the heels, dancing to some fun music while doing the "peel the carrot" moves.

Just wanted to start a topic this morning to see if anyone else has those daily activities they wish could count for more!

Well there's always the option of not wearing heels....or only wearing them 1-2x a week :)
