Losing weight, one cheat meal a week, thoughts?

I am slowly losing weight but I miss certain meals, does anyone else have one cheat meal a week? Has it set you back dramatically? Thoughts? Opinions?

As long as you don't go overboard and you're in a generous deficit each week it won't set you back much, no. Flexibility helps with adherence to a diet. Being overly strict is a good way to doom yourself to failure.

I alternate bi weekly from 1 increased calorie day to 2 non consecutive increased calorie days. It really seems to work for me and eliminate a stall in weight loss. I increase by 500 calories on those days.

I also wouldn't call it a cheat day. This has a negative tone to it. I'd eat what you want but keep it in your calorie range.

    Best of luck.

I have an entire cheat day every week and am still consistently losing weight. It's different for everyone, though, so you just have to find what works for you. Some people don't feel they can have a cheat day and still lose weight, so they choose not to. I, however, find it helps me stay on track throughout the week. If I ever get to the point where I stop losing, that's obviously the first adjustment I'm going to make, but so far, it hasn't had any negative impacts on my weight loss.

Edit to add: My cheat day consists of basically just eating whatever I feel like for each meal (this sometimes still ends up being semi-healthy stuff, or just stuff I've had a craving for throughout the week), and I don't log. I've seen a lot of people on here advise against that, but like I said, find what works for you. This is what works for me =)

i just go for the food as needed. I never know when i'll be craving something, but it better be extremely delicious and worth it! and actually if it can fit within my numbers, then its not even cheating.
  • Yes I am just so worried because my weight is stubborn I mean it really does not want to go anywhere! but I do not want to take everything that is delicious away from me so I think I may try it and see what happens lol.

When I was on a very strict eating plan, and being 100% compliant, I got one cheat meal a week, and consistently lost weight.
  • AWESOME!
