15k in one year?

I have a question for all you runners!

I have done a little bit of my own research, but getting answers from people is a little more personal and helpful than reading articles.

Is it realistic to train for a 15k in one year? How often should I be running and how should I go about it generally?

Thank you for any info or any tips you have! :)

I would say it's very realistic. My sister went from being a complete non runner, following the C25K program and ran a half marathon 4 months after it was finished.

Are you a brand new runner? Or have you already started?

I just googled 15k and found a training program for novices by Hal Higdon (a well known running author), check something like that out and see what you can expect to be doing.

Not a problem for most I would say. Depending on your health and fitness level. I ran two half marathons on back to back days within 2 months of running serious for first time in 25 years. If I can, anybody can.

Plenty of free running plans out there that will tell you exactly how much to run each day.

Tip one get a good pair of running shoes professionally fitted if possible.

Find your slow speed and run slower than that especially when you are increasing distance.

If new, don't work on speed. If you have some experience already, never work on speed and distance same day.
