Changing goal weight (higher) as getting closer to goal

I am 9 lbs. from my goal weight. I am 5'0", age 67, and it has taken me almost 2 years to lose 38 lbs.and get to 140. My goal is 130 (I am of stocky build for my height). I am down to a size 8 jeans and hoping to get to a size 6, using the same brand of jeans each time. I have been a size 4 but that was when I was a lot younger. The last few months I have waffled around 138 - 141. Admittedly, I have not been totally committed but now I want to get this thing done. I am a gym rat - 5x/week, cardio, weights, bands, you name it - for an hour + each time. I have my cals at 1200 and eat back gym cals. TDEE just didn't work for me. I just upped my goal weight to 135, thinking that this might be more manageable, psychologically, and then, if I reach that (IF EVER), change it to 130 and go from there to get where I want to be. Has anyone used this method, i.e., raised their goal, then lowered it again ... has it worked for you?
