I don't think its considered healthy to be honest, the white rice, special sauces, mayo, tempura.. that stuff to me is for sure not a health food. But I LOVE sushi, and I wont give it up forever, so if I want a good solid cheat meal, 9 times out of 10 it will be a gorge on sushi <3.

what kind of sushi has mayo?

Most of my sushi looks like this...

    sushi0.jpg

raw fish and rice with the only special sauce being some wasabi and soy sauce...and nothing at all wrong with white rice. I guess you could go nuts with some rolls or something...but I guess I don't even consider rolls to really be sushi and I might have a bite of one, but pretty much I'm going to be throwing down raw tuna and the like which is pretty darn healthy.

    any of the spicy rolls.

I hear a lot of the rice has mayo in it to to make it stick.

I like actually rolls- but the only one with "stuff" in it I get is the spicy tuna- otherwise it's straight fish- I just like having the rice- makes for a happy little dipping nom nom nom.

I'll eat the sashimi in pieces- but I can only do so much of it.

Um, no It's actually called sushi rice and it is quite sticky. We had sushi rice in the house and it was very sticky.

Probably better off not eating fish every day, these days.

Aside from heavy metal concerns, pretty good stuff.

Yusssss. Or sashimi. Give me a big ol' plate of high quality tuna with some wasabi and soy and I'm a happy, happy girl.

OK>>>> Anything in moderation. Much has been said about carbs here. On the original settings of MFP, note that we are geared to take in 20% protein, 30% fat, and 50% carbs... Carbs are a staple in our diet and necessary for energy. That being said, often it is the type of carbs (just like it is the type of fat) that can be an issue. Rice is less of a problem than sugar. Of course, there are HEALTHY FATS as well as UNHEALTHY FATS... The micro-nutrient thing can actually be a deceptive thing when considered alone.
